The way I see it they were getting less warmongery thanks to the mystics, he was part of that generation. A generation not so detached from the previous that he can’t appreciate and admire warriors, but enough that he appreciates the spiritualism brought by the mystics. And now Iver is just taking them back and dialing it up to eleven.

Could be that he’s not against war as such, he’s just bothered that he can not do his part in it. He would prefer the wars to be over, his people to have found their promised place, but since they haven’t, he should be there doing something about it, not just lie there all done and useless when things need be done.

Hence the “Hey, if you’re done with that mystic stuff, hows about taking the axe again since you seem to be able to be up and about. Not quite sure why you quit since you’re able-bodied like that.”

So … Bonecrusher would have been one of the people we saw Gravy spend some of his younger years with. People whom he turned away because they were too brutal for his tastes. And now one of those people is complaining about all the war. That’s actually a nice touch. The only thing that doesn’t seem to quite fit the bill is that Bonecrusher still doesn’t quite seem to understand what Gravy disliked about all that war-going, despite being rather tired of it, himself.
