Whatever you do, pleeeeease don’t change comment systems, without an end of the world reason. I used to spend way way to much time commenting over at Looking For Group. I would post long, elaborate theories, song parodies, and puns by the boatload. I have no idea how many hundreds of hours I spent there, over a number of years, but I felt like I was contributing something to the community.

When Disqus changed it’s policies, and started requiring a fee or ad space, LFG decided they didn’t like either option, and switched to Facebook Comments. I know for them, it seemed like a sound businesses decision, but for the community, it wasn’t just a nuclear option, it was an Extinction Level Event. Every comment that anyone had ever made, on the site, was gone in a flash. Lia’s reaction to losing Rachel was mild, compared to what I felt. I was devastated. I tried to go on, with the new system, but I couldn’t put my heart into it, like before.

To make matters worse, months later, LFG decided they didn’t like Facebook Comments, so they chose to cause another E.L.E., and changed to a new system, called Vuukle. With all the comments wiped again, I still tried commenting some, but Vuukle’s toxicity (censorship) system is such a resource hog, that it kept crashing my tablet. Now, I just occasionally visit LFG, catch up on a month or two’s worth of comics, and once in a while try to post a comment or two.

I found Guilded Age a few weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. The comic is amazing, and I love how important the community is to y’all. Reading and responding to the comments makes me feel like I’ve known everyone since the beginning, even though I’m still 4 years behind. I can’t wait to / absolutely dread getting caught up to the current comic. :)
