A vaguely related creature called a double entendre would be my guess. It functions similarly to a pun in that it has a second meaning but without necessarily containing a pun.

Apparently people have begun to confuse anything with multiple meanings other than the obvious one with the idea of a pun. The fact that double/triple entendre’s often do contain puns just further clouds the issue.
