Apparently from what I can gather… as of 3rd edition they have been reptilian.
Prior to 3rd edition in D&D they were dog-like humanoids.

And as previously mentioned, in the continuity that introduced me to fantasy: the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks… Kobolds are just a subtype of Goblin.

I don’t believe I’ll ever get used to them being reptiles.
Not even thanks to Deekin (Shadows of Undrentide add-on to Neverwinter Nights).
