My money’s on him giving an innocuous explanation for his appearance and Kay’s absence for the purpose of devaluing the video as potential evidence, then making whatever threats or deals he’s about to make through subtext.

What’s worth more to him right now: Potential leverage, or removing a piece from the board? I’d theorize that if he did the latter, it’d make sense NOT to show himself to all these people. He wants to talk. And while a body is a good way to give a warning, he’s probably genre savy enough to know that one should A. be careful because that can also put people in “this monster must be stoppped” mode, and B. Showing evidence of murder on a camera to a bunch of tech savy kids is a bad idea.
