The whole idea of trigger warnings was bloody stupid from the get-go.

I mean just think about it.... Who gives anyone the right to decide what will or won't set someone off and result in major freakouts? No, I'm not talking about being butt-hurt. I'm talking about subjects that are going to give people a real bad time...
They're subjective. THAT is the issue here. And as such, giving some a preferential treatment over others (which is an inevitability) is essentially going to lead to offense all over the damned place.

Take, for instance, if you decide to plaster huge "Trigger Warnings" all over every possible depiction of vomiting or rape... but you don't have one for spiders, and someone with severe arachnophobia walks into it unaware after seeing all this posturing "sensitive" bullshit. That will just aggravate the sense of isolation in their problem in that their own issue is not regarded as equal to the others.

As such there are only two ways to handle it fairly: Either stick trigger warnings on literally EVERYTHING... or abandon the concept entirely.

Those who claim to wear the mask of sensitivity without accounting for the fact that ANYTHING AT ALL could set someone off are just virtue-signaling prats looking to exploit a trend to try and make themselves look good.

One of them was a Troll and the other was an Avian.
That the concepts of male and female can be assigned across the span of the dimorphic portion of the tree of life in terms of gamete form and investment... any concepts of "gender identity" based on a race's preconceptions about what holders of a particular gamete type should be are going to be utterly lost in the greater difference between the species.

i.e. It doesn't even remotely matter whether they're "non-binary" or not because we don't have a single freakin clue what "male" even means to an Avian. There isn't a "binary" when we're dealing with cross-species romance.

tl;dr version: Check your human privilege.
