In all fairness, he did contribute the most to the quest.
In even more fairness, they’re not explicitly lying about nor discounting his part in the quest.

Really though, what it came down to was that he has a weak personality, and things might have remained smooth if Byron hadn’t taken issue with HOW he was doing things. Once instigated, he behaved in an inappropriate manner, and ragequit.

To be quite honest… I don’t like Byron NOR Best.

I’d rather see someone be arrogant and egotistical than have no principles. Best doesn’t have principles. He threw the kids he agreed to save over the side of a boat.
