But he got away with it and lived happily ever after, without so much as a guilty twinge about what he had done…which proves that you can be excused for just about anything if you are a hero, because no one asks inconvenient questions.

“Down on their luck”? The giant lived in a fortress and had a goose that could lay golden eggs. How the heck was he down on his luck (before being murdered that is)? Heck Jack and his mom had to sell the cow because they were starving. They were the ones down on their luck.
