		<description><![CDATA[Indeed. Regarding the differences between maiden and maid, the two are partially synonymous. A maid can simply be a shorter form of a maiden. Alternatively, a maid can refer to servant, because it was assumed that only unmarried (and therefore, in theory, virgin) women would be employed. However, to avoid confusion, they were referred to as serving maids (or similar titles). Maid is simply the contraction of that, which occured after people simply started to assume that noble young ladies would be virgins, so it became redundant to call them maidens.
