I know it’s much maligned, but I grew up with it and I still enjoy it, even 40 years later. Honestly, I prefer Richard Boone’s performance as Smaug over the one in the recent cinematic releases, even though that was also well done. When I read the book as a kid, Smaug always seemed more bombastic and arrogant than the “sneaky” version done for the Peter Jackson films.
