CREATING YOUR COMIC (871)
[Panelists: Robert Kauffmann (mod), Phil Kahn, Brian Koscienski, James Chambers]

PIRATE, NINJA, ALIEN, BIG DAMN SPACE HERO! (864)
[Panelists: Hugh Casey (mod), Sally-Rouge Pax, Jo Blu Pax, Phil Kahn, Genevieve Iseult Eldredge, S.J. (Sooj) Tucker]
Philcon’s favorite panel is back, with all NEW catagories! Everyone knows that if you add certain character types to a story, its coolness factor multiplies exponentially! So we take four of those archtypes, assign one to each panelist, and have them battle it out to determine which one is the coolest! This year, it’s Pirates (from Blackbeard to Jack Sparrow), Ninjas (and, by extension, any awesome martial artist), Aliens (from Greys and Xenomorphs to Spock and Chewie), and finally, the Big Damn Space Hero (from Buck and Flash, to Kirk, Han, and Mal!)! And the audience chooses who wins, so come enjoy the most fun, most madcap panel at Philcon.
Sat 2:00 PM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
COMICS: THE ART OF SEQUENTIAL STORYTELLING (869)
[Panelists: James Chambers (mod), Phil Kahn, Brian Koscienski, J. Andrew World, Ahlen Moin]
A discussion of how to use art and dialogue to tell your story, panel by panel.
Sat 8:00 PM in Plaza II (Two) (1 hour)
SEXY ALIEN PRINCESSES, AND A CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF: SEXISM IN COMICS (867)
[Panelists: Joan Wendland (mod), Phil Kahn, F. Michael Yates, J. Andrew World]
Sexism has long been an issue in mainstream comics, but recently certain comics have once again fanned the flames (as anyone who read “Red Hood and the Outlaws #1” or “Catwoman #1” can attest). Is it really so hard to portray women in comics without turning them into schoolboy fantasy objects.
Not being familiar with PhilCon, for a moment I believed that you had created a conference all about yourself.
