AAaA E-Merl 1
This comic ended up being a rather curious echo of the Guilded Age installment that ran before it.
Variation on our usual defeat-the-rich theme, and it also explains why E-Merl is so inclined to think of himself as still impoverished even despite his high-profile position. I’m sure many millennials can relate.
That said, we did make a point of repairing his hat a little further down the line, and reworked his whole wardrobe after that. It’s possible that certain… political changes in the last few chapters may have ended up voiding his debt. Not that we advocate government overthrow as a means of debt resolution. Generally.
This page is both incredibly funny and sad at the same time. I mean, it’s almost impossible to take E-Merl seriously but at the same time, most of us have had the shadow of debt follow us around at some point.
Oddly enough, one of my favorite comics in the Ask An Adventurer series. Such wry humor.
