Perhaps it’s clear now what this trap is meant to do. If one or maybe two thieves came in, this room would be sufficient to hold them until they were retrieved or starved, but a larger group would find themselves not only isolated but surrounded by phantoms (who were actually their comrades). The fear of invisible, inaudible attackers who touched them seemingly at random would make them escalate their responses. Some would last longer than others, but sooner or later there would be a shove, then a harder shove in response, then a punch, then the weapons would come out…
If Best’s favorite Peacemaker is Frigg, Frigg’s at this point is Gravedust. She was sorely in need of a “parental” figure in her life that wasn’t an outrageously evil nun-queen or someone who left her in the care of an outrageously evil nun-queen.
Byron’s been lost since before his resurrection, really. First step is admitting you have a problem.
If Byron had thrown a bit more to the left, they’d have never gotten out of there.

Gravy’s eyes are curiously yellow on this page, and I seem to recall his spiritual powers usually read blue in past pages. Was there a reason for the difference? I forget…
Generally speaking, his eyes are yellow when primarily detecting living souls, blue when detecting the dead.
