Annotated 20-19
Okay, here’s something worth mentioning: John was now consistently backed up by his brother Jason, who did inking on his pencils and sometimes, as here, took over on the coloring. Although the two have distinct “root styles,” they’re both pretty adaptable and most people didn’t notice any sort of transition at all.
Phil’s script: Tectonicus’ immense size and burning presence fills out the entirety of the page. Like a God, his presence is all. It is all consuming, all dominating, all growing, all-existing. Harky is so small, comparatively, that he is just barely recognizable. They speak while the fires of eternity rage behind them, the spirits of the elements of all kinds swirling around, still no match for Tectonicus’ immensity.
I like that at this point I already had a bit of sympathy, respect, and perhaps even fondness for Tectonicus and his followers — but especially at the end of the story.
“I’m burning, I’m burning for youuuu!”
What was with the other elements there? They are small by comparison to Tectonicus’ heatred.
I’m assuming they relate to forces of nature, more specifically being destructive forces. While Tectonicus, by name and appearance, is represented largely by fire and earth, I suspect he would be the one who supplies most of the ‘force’ in the forces of nature.
I never noticed Harky standing on Tectonicus’ head before. Which, apparently, was intentional. :)
Tectonicus is an Ugnaught?
