Annotated 42-24
Just when we thought we were done with everyone’s side stories and ready to follow a single questline, Frigg drops her little bombshell in panel 1. What exactly she wants with Rachel’s erstwhile sister will have to wait, but this shows her priorities are shifting even before she gets any answers about the god in her head.
Clair and Hollister can’t see where the winter elves are, and they haven’t had any recent contact, so the Fodor’s tour guide they’re reading from here might be out of date. That said, given their similarities, the sky elves were probably the last race to have any consistent relations with the winter elves. Sometimes you have to make do with the best information available and hope that’s good enough.

I love that Clair and Hollister are getting a few moments where it’s clear they aren’t just naïve doe-eyed small-town adventurer groupies. They may not have a lot of experience with adventuring but they certainly know a thing or three, and they have good reasons to go along.
Plus I love the sort of practical advice they dispense. I wonder what stories they lifted that from. And I start to understand why the winter elves must have retreated from the rest of Arkerra. If they were any easier to access, they’d have to choose between trying to use their knowledge to rule Arkerra (when knowledge alone may not be enough for that) or to be held as slaves by whoever wants to rule in their stead. After a few wars being fought over them, I suppose most people would get tired of this shit.
