Annotated 44-23
It’s true that Frigg doesn’t quite understand the terms of the arrangement she’s rejecting. Maybe ascending to godhood would mean nothing more than a power-up, an assist in handling the business she’s currently trying to finish. I mean, Thor seems perfectly capable of hanging out with the Avengers for extended periods. The knowledge of his immortality may be a bit of a barrier between them sometimes, but for the most part, he’s just one of the crew.
But the vague terms the gods are offering make it seem likely their deal has a catch. Taking responsibility for every heroic act of defiance in Arkerra seems like it’d cut into Frigg’s drinking time.
FB: Cat offers outstretched hand to human, human swats it away like it was a live grenade.
In related news, man bites dog.
Considering how little active role the deities play in the Arkerra… Sure they work miracle here, wonder there, but none of them really seem to act straight, so… Yeah. Frigg that!
I suspect these gods are entities that Frigg’s human made up when she entered Arkerra. They’re part of her backstory, which means that they have probably not interacted much with the world before that.
I *would* like to know what kind of stuff they would be up to, but if they’re Frigg’s backstory then they’d probably get along perfectly with “old” Frigg (who gives no fuck about stupid feelings), but not with post-Rachel Frigg (who just killed her ghost-Wolf for making fun of her attachment to Rachel).
So I imagine if Frigg did take up the offer, she’d probably get on the others’ nerves and might shake things up a bit. Although, depending on how godhood works in Arkerra (which we know almost nothing about), it might just mean that she becomes the patron of any act of defiance on Arkerra, independent of whether she’d approve or not. I think Frigg has gone way beyond defiance for defiance’ sake, so that’s probably not her cup of tea anymore.
Lots of agrees on that.
I’m just thinking along the lines of Tectonicus, the wood elves god, whom I’ve completely forgotten the name of, that have been more “active”.
And even Frigg’s flavour god has given the smiting skills to others. Unless, since the Centurion could use it too, it’s just general “God is with me!” sorta powerglow… But still showcases some activity from some power or other.
But zero actual physical manifestations of deities, so… Don’t think Frigg would be the first one of that sort either.
Frigg also hates the idea having followers, why she original didn’t get along with Rachel. Frigg flat out said it in a q&a that people should believe in them selves.
