Ask An Adventurer – Seeing Stars
Sorry for the delayed update, folks! Thanksgiving was a thing and also I was really busy talking about lightsabers.
Also, be forwarned:
WE WILL BE CLOSING THE SUBMISSION BOX FOR ASK AN ADVENTURER TOMORROW NIGHT!
If you have questions, get them in there!
“Poor guy, getting attacked by rhinosaurs and having axes thrown at him every damn night.”
I can’t help but notice this week’s letter is written on paper towels.
Pshaw. Astrology is a fun diversion but has no basis in fact or reality.
(Then again – I’m a Sagittarius, and we’re naturally skeptical.)
Hmm. Are you sure?
Naturally skeptical? Are you sure you’re not actually an Ophiuchan?
Among gastonia this guy must be famous, Practically a star.
Little defensive isn’t he?
Wait…so the Gastonians were originally colonists who came from some other continent? Curious.
And as for the impractical triple beam red lightsaber, lightsabers are impractical period. That one can use the force to wield them without injuring yourself can justify any impractical design one wants.
Lightsabers always seemed very practice to me. Though not as a weapon, they would be a great tool for ship boarding actions as has been demonstrated time and again by there ability to cut through nearly any thickness door in very little time.
If you could make a device capable of harnessing the ridiculous amounts of light energy needed to ‘cut through nearly any thickness in very little time’ you could as well make invincible armour out of it’s material (rendering those same lightsabers obsolete in the progress).
Hrm. Lightsaber armor might potentially work okay as long as you, like, kept your arms and legs spread-eagle the entire time. I have a feeling you’d run into problems when you needed to open a door or get your wallet out of your pocket or… basically anything, really.
A shield would be somewhat less stupid, though if you have the reflexes of a Jedi, there’s not much a shield can do that a lightsaber can’t, and the lightsaber is a lot easier to conceal. A shield made out of lightsaber beams would be a cool piece of equipment for a non-Jedi, though the Jedi don’t seem very keen on sharing the technology.
The elephant in the room not being talked about? TRAILER. i am so excited!
I was not, after I saw it. It was a teaser, so not much very much stuff to have a say on, and the stuff I saw… the lightsaber, millenium falcon, little cute robot… all very “this is what you liked before, right? here we have them again! we have no own ideas or concepts, we just ride this train of old goodies..”
it also seems that every new trilogy has to start with A. New. Epic. Twisted. Lightsaber. This one, while propably a very good for parrying, was esthetically wrong to me. It looked western medieval.
I have to rephrase after discussing the lightsaber with my wife. It is Not very functional piece of equipment. You see when you parry, the guard is supposed to protect your hand. But realistically the the momentum of the attack would follow the line along the guard And end up in the metal parts of the saber……
So the looks are wrong, the function is off, I here by judge it an ugly piece of saber.
Suddenly I have more sympathy for the World’s Rebellion. Not enough to overlook their bs either, but still. Significantly more sympathy than previously.
well of course colonize them (the stars)
