I think playing with teamkilling enabled is entirely cool. But only as long as it’s at a LAN, and disgruntled teammates can get up and physically take revenge on a perpetrator. That element usually puts the whole social system nicely back into equilibrium, and people avoid being assholes.
OK, now I’m not sure if the issue I was having was on your end, or my ISPs.
And on a positive note, now that everything seems to be loading right for me – I really like the ‘paper strips’ design for the archive and ‘creators sites’ links.
*does so* Oh, very nice, indeed. Also, two thumbs up on the more complete and compact cast page.
(If you’re open to suggestions, maybe the archive page could use a similar compacting. It’s getting to the point there’s a lot of scrolling if you left off at a later chapter.)
The site is indeed looking fine; I’d say the new look is definitely an overall improvement. I do however (for some reason) sorely miss the old neutral, light-earth-tonesy color sheme of the comments section. The grayscale doesn’t quite do it for me.
You’d have to get up on some serious-ass Hatespeech or something comparable to that to earn a ban under my watch. As long as everyone treats everyone else with respect, the sky’s the limit.
That’s a rather sizeable star. Makes me wonder how I might get my own, as a comment I made in the past WAS deemed worthy by our fearless leader for Aurum Stella. Although I might ask for something a little smaller, don’t need to break up the flow of the discussions tooooo much.
Hmm. Either comments don’t show up anymore until they’re approved, or the comment I keep trying to submit has some kind of fault-inducing text in it. This is a test.
Ok this is kind of a wierd thing to be impressed by, but I like how the next page arrow is all burn’t up looking when you reach the last page currently finished. Usually the arrow is just faded out on webcomics.
Also loving that little bit of design. A clear visual indication that I’m on the most current page is so much better than getting hit with that brief but intense distress when the “next-page dispenser” stops working as expected.
Ugh, having to scroll both horizontally and vertically is awful. There’s so little stuff off the right side of the page; you couldn’t move it on-screen? It’s just the Contact button in the top menu, the banner ad, and the junk no one cares about next to the comments.
You must be running an atypical resolution or some sort of browser mods, because this is the first I’ve heard of anyone needing to scroll horizontally.
When I view this site on my phone, then there is a bit of scrolling. So I just try to avoid my phone for web comics except for when it is an emergency. And web comic emergencies really do happen!
A Sieve of Savants. A Tank of Thinkers. A Skullduggery of Scholars. A Legation of Linguists. An Announcement of Analysts. An Intensity of Interpreters.
When attempting to read a dead language, being able to talk to the dead sure is handy.
But it feels vaguely like cheating.
Wasn’t this the plot of How High?
Yes, E-merl seems to have forgotten that Gravy can call up long dead people…
The loss of teamkilling is what killed team games for me.
I think playing with teamkilling enabled is entirely cool. But only as long as it’s at a LAN, and disgruntled teammates can get up and physically take revenge on a perpetrator. That element usually puts the whole social system nicely back into equilibrium, and people avoid being assholes.
Confirmed.
LAN also has other vital benefits… like being able to peer over at the monitors of the guys on the other team.
Woah. The site is lookin’ fiiiiiine.
I’m not fond of the new design, personally.
The big problem is the ad locations, I think…there’s a lot of weird dead space because of them.
There’s a handful of minor kinks we are still working out.
OK, now I’m not sure if the issue I was having was on your end, or my ISPs.
And on a positive note, now that everything seems to be loading right for me – I really like the ‘paper strips’ design for the archive and ‘creators sites’ links.
If you think those are snazzy, you should peep the ancillary pages around the site via the menu up top!

Your request has been heard, accepted, and implemented.
Cool beans. Looks good, and much more convenient.
Fyi, there is a missing trailing slash in the “crew” link that is preventing the page from loading (in Opera 12).

… among other issues with verifying the successful submission of comments.
OK, scratch that. Looks like it was my ISP playing silly buggers and refusing to load half the elements of the layout – including one of the ads.
That, probably, and also one of our ads is currently bugged.
Which is to say that it is exhibiting errors, not a secret government wiretap.
Promise.

Based on the second panel, I predict a wave of E-Merl/Gravy shipping. Hopefully closer to the “crack ship” end of the Shipping Seriousness Scale. :D

A grumbling of grad students
I do believe that the new Gold Star standard is the best change on the site yet.
Hahaha, that’s supposed to be the bit that goes on my chin, but…
Can’t unsee!
Phil has a vagina. :)
Probably my last comment. *expecting a ban at any moment*
I’ve never banned anyone from comments to date.
You’d have to get up on some serious-ass Hatespeech or something comparable to that to earn a ban under my watch. As long as everyone treats everyone else with respect, the sky’s the limit.
And my vagina is a mighty vagina.
I crack walnuts with that shit.
A CHALLENGE
THAT IS NOT A CHALLENGE.
*falls off chair laughing*

Oh, Cog, how I’ve missed everybody!
I thought a “grumbling of grad students” was great, but I really need to find a way to work “my vagina is a mighty vagina” into a conversation!

Nope, this is Gold Stars now.
But not retroactively.
I want a Phil based Pez dispenser.
Me too.
Second.
OOoooOOhhh It SPARKLES so nicely!

Yes finally a good Avatar.wish i could make it permanently for me.
You could always right-click on it, save it, then set it as your gravatar.
Yup, gravatar is pretty easy to set up. (You didn’t think John drew <- this crappy avatar, did you?)
…and if there be the slightest hint of doubt regarding that question…
That’s not a good avatar. It’s a wicked avatar!
(And now I’m giving myself “Wizard of Oz” flashbacks)

I love…LOVE the new background!

Dude, you just made me do a happy little designer dance in my chair.
Also loving that little bit of design. A clear visual indication that I’m on the most current page is so much better than getting hit with that brief but intense distress when the “next-page dispenser” stops working as expected.
It seems that E-merl may be an Archaeolinguist? :) Perhaps, there may be a side story beside his street life heritage? Intrigued!
I must say I really like the new lay-out! /late to the party *grumbles something about midterms and having no time for anything*

“junk I don’t care about”
FTFY
