Chapter 25 – Cover
As you can imagine, we’re running behind working out our budget and gameplan for handling the unbelievably massive content load to come from the Friggstarter. New DLC and Random Avatars coming soon!

got here right as it was posted haha :D
I was wondering when we were going back to that other world…
I spent fifteen minutes wondering if the number on the key will somehow be significant -.-
#219672 is the Hex color code for a “dark cyan/lime green” color:
http://www.color-hex.com/color/219672#
Who in the tubes has a green color? (Honest question, I can’t remember offhand.)
Syr’nj has the green tube.
If I remember my 1337speak it’s SIGLBS or SIBLGS. Maybe there’s something called the Big SLS behind the door.
Or, going off your 2nd translation, it could be about siblings.
I’ve just been playing Shadowrun Returns, and, well, somehow the distinction between worlds seems less significant.
No joke, though: Shadowrun Returns is a whole Hell of a lot of fun.
Oh heck yeah it is. Totally better than I expected.
I dunno. The “only saving at the beginning of a chapter” thing is weird; forces you to take a good hard look at a new chapter, and decide whether to quit or not at that point. (Which TBH is probably a good thing, encourages shorter playsessions?)
Healing between combats is a bit of a pain, unless I’m missing a shortcut somewhere? It’s like you have to use a medpack, or click through about 5 menus to cast a healing spell on each of your partymembers, one at a time.
And so far, fighting as a Decker with a pistol is kind of underwhelmind :/ Maybe I shoulda picked the rifle. I’ve only just started, though (haven’t even gotten to the Seamstresses’ Union yet); hopefully it picks up soon (and maybe I should rewind and change weapons).
(I mean really, what’s the strength of the pistol, versus the other weapons? Likely there is one, I just don’t see it yet.)
I kind of like it, I messed up a conversation and had the choice of ‘go back to the very beginning of this stage or find another way through this door’. I found another way through, it was a little noisy and turned on the security guns but hey, that’s why my hired mages have heal spells :-)
What I’m most enjoying about Shadowrun Returns is how it manages to capture a particular vibe I associate with my 20s — the community of people with low-wage jobs or unemployment, the promises and warmth of counter-culture and radical groups, the threats and the urgency of the needs of young adults in maligned minorities.
The autosave mechanic is not my ideal, but there’s usually just a few minutes between changes in scene, so it’s not too bad. The pistol is a good all-around weapon — medium damage, medium range. It lacks burst fire, but burst fire is less useful than you’d think.
Before you get far in the game, you’ll be able to count on having companions with whatever set of skills you need for the mission. You’ll have plenty of chances to try out different skills, so don’t worry overmuch about what your main character’s specialty is. Also, it helps to specialize, but don’t overdo it, since there are rapidly diminishing returns; skill checks aren’t that common, most check for a stat of 4, and rarely, 6 — and the high checks are usually just some bonus conversation.
Sorry, I only care about secure containers.
I only care about what’s inside them.
Touche.
What’s inside this one is information. It’s an on/off switch for something number 3.
I guess it’s the switch in the elevator that allows to access the lower levels.
betting Best here.
Ignore the 2 2’s, and it’s 1976 all over again
Not quite.
“Good guess, …but wrong.”
Try again.
Maybe it’s like that game on The Price is Right where the first and last numbers are the same but you have to remove one of the numbers between them. I’ll remove the 9 and go with 21762.
Or like that other game on The Price is Right where it’s either the first four numbers or the last four numbers and you have to push the other two off. In that case I’d keep the 2197 and drop the 62.
…or perhaps the one with the yodeling mountain climber. That one’s my favorite.
Nope. All the numbers matter.
“But, you’re closest without going over.”
Actually, you’re not close at all. Keep trying.
No, no. It’s a rebus puzzle about a bicentennial celebration aboard a locomotive.
1976 in 2 2 twain.
If you add all the the numbers together from left to right, or top to bottom as the case may be, turning double digit results into their single digit components…. the answer is 1.
Gah bad math :(
New chapter, and new avatars soon.
I do hope I get to use another image of Gravedust. While my own beard might not be as majestic as the masterful mystic’s is, I’ve been proud to have it representing me.
Not Gravvyboat, but you still have a beard
If we go by a simple number substitution cypher, it’s either B-A-I-G-F-B, U-I-G-F-B, or B-S-G-F-B.
Wait a second! B-S-G-F-B! Byron, Syr’nj, Gravedust, Frigg, Best! It’s an initialism of the Main Characters (or at least their avatars)! I think I figured it out!
I have no idea what this could mean. That it’s a key leading into their tank room, I guess, but we knew we were headed there.
Congratulations! That’s it exactly! A simple number/letter substitution. Although there are six individual numbers on the key, one of the “numbers” is actually a double digit number: 19 ,equaling the letter S, for Syr’Nj. Good work, Sir.
I’m sure they are messing with us and it doesn’t mean anything special
