Syr … you’re not being totally honest. You talk (in panel 2) as if the WE’s are the only hope of resurrection. You know very well that another way exists, and in fact you’ve already sent Gravy to accomplish it for Byron … but NOT for Rachel. Sure seems like you’re being a nepotist here – why not try to resurrect both? (Unless you’ve already been told that not even Rachel’s soul exists, making her rez harder – but I don’t remember you being told that.)
Well, the thing with Byron is that there’s a body readily available that Gravy could drag around to try and reanimate, with Rachel there isn’t one. Considering that Gravedusts method of resurrection seems to involve dragging the spirit back into the body, not magically creating a new body, I’d assume that everyone is of the opinion that he probably isn’t capable of rezzing Rachel.
At this point I’d also say it’s pretty safe to assume that Syr’nj has been told about the circumstances under which Rachel died.
Even if Syr’Nj wasn’t told explicitly, Gravedust knew that the corruptor was destroying the ghosts/souls as well as bodies. And it did destroy her body, at which point Gravedust acted like he couldn’t sense her spirit anymore either . . . so with no body and no soul I think it was outside Gravedust’s area of expertise, at least.
Also of note: Syr’nj didn’t send Gravedust off to do anything. He appears to have done that of his own accord. That’s why E-Merl had to come tell her that Gravy had done it. Which is to say that Gravedust just sort of sacked Byron’s corpse and wandered off into the night, soooo that’s awkward.
In the first panel it almost looks as though it was Syrinj’s dispassionate glare what made the flame peter off. She looks like “yeah, look I don’t have time for this” and the flame is all “s’ry m’am…”
Considering the price Gravedust appears to have paid for it, it isn’t exactly “like nothing happened.” And gravedust could not have resurrected Rachel even if he tried.
Besides, Syr’nj isn’t lying, she will happily do exactly as she says if she can.
That’s if they even want to show you how to do it. And it *still* might not even work since someone said (Gravy?) that Rachel’s soul is technically gone. There’s nothing left to bring back. I think it might be easier if the Winter Elves know how to go back in time.
Hweird indeed. Could be Syr’Nj adapting to what she perceives as human standard. To her, it seems everybody calls everybody else “old friend”, even after a few scant decades… so why not do it after a few months, even.
Oh man… E-Merl’s eyes in the last panel… I’m not crying, you’re crying!
I don’t understand what is going on in the last panel. Is there a disco going on in his head?
He leveled and gained puppy-dog eyes as a class ability.
He’s so happy, he has smiley faces behind his pupils.
Now that you said it, they do look kind of like faces. Reminds me of that voodoo music scene from that disney movie.
Street magicians are sort of distant cousins to voodoo priests, aren’t they? Panache, dark powers, etc.

Resurrections for some, miniature Gastonian flags for others!
Well he actually found his faith again pretty quickly. :P
I picture Rachel as entering a Sphere of Annihilation… She just doesn’t exist any more.
ITS FINE I DIDN’T NEED MY HEART ANYWAYS
NO REALLY YOUR SOUL IS SUPPOSED TO SHATTER LIKE THAT

Her glare doesn’t strike me as a dispassionate. It seems more like a “…sorry friend, but you just proved my point.”
Haha, I can’t wait for Emerl to rage on her when Byron walks back to life like nothing happened.
Pays dividends to have a Dwarf Cleric as ya buddy.
If you’re gonna fall in love make sure it’s a main character.
Unless they already have a One True Love. In which case, stay as far away as you can from them.

First rule of server reverts is nobody talks about server reverts…
THIS HAND OF MINE IS BURNING RED…and…actually I’m somewhat sheepish about it.
There is a lot of love, anger and sorrow. But I’ll just…um…stick it in my pocket. Ma’am.
“Old friend”? From an elf, to someone she’s known for just a few years?
I’m not even sure it’s been years. Maybe months. But they’ve endured a lot together in that short time.
