I unironically love how Phil and Jason just reworked the backgrounds, and sometimes the conceit of the series, whenever the “Ask an Adventurer” questions went to someone who was not actually an adventurer. Phil was getting enough questions that we probably could’ve limited it to the adventuring community, but how much more fun is it to get folks like Harky and Brother Tom to weigh in? The bustling, populous cast is one of the joys of the series: we’re much better off using it.
The average Cultist doesn’t seem to have put much thought into why they destroy or how they live their lives. Brother Tom, it need hardly be said, is not average.
Never really thought about getting tats, partly because I felt I didn’t know where I’d be later in life and if I’d still be the person who wanted a Captain Carrot on my bicep or the name of my one true love (or so I thought at the time) on my chest. Tom’s lifeplan is a limited one, but I do envy his certainty.
Always have envied people with purpose and goals. Never had much luck in either myself. Got only one big project going on and even that was semi-doomed for failure from the get-go.
It’s kinda hard to get someone to like you more when one of the earliest things you did to them was break their old friend-group apart…
But they like me well enough and I’ve told them that they’re free to tell me to scram whenever and I’ll do it, but until then I will pursue them with all the love and passion one could ever give to another.
Still wouldn’t ink them on me, though. XD
