Annotated 12-23
A little more silent gloom for Byron before we get to the meat of this scene.
I loved the reader commentary to the effect that Byron could just give everyone the finger and go off to do his own thing. They made the fair point that his resistance to berserking had been pretty strong, only breaking down for the first time when he got impaled, but they seemed to miss that triggering him the second time was considerably easier, not to mention that even if he never berserked again, his state of mind was heading toward “heroic sacrifice.” If he walked out, it wouldn’t have been good news for him, or likely anyone else.
Lovely work from John as always. That cheery grin Syr’Nj gives Byron as he comes in does a lot to set his (and our) minds at ease.
If my parents taught me anything his answer is “FUCK YOU”.
“Oh… I’m sorry to hear that, but… I understand.”
“Sooo, do you want to or not?”
Syr just radiates kindness in the middle panel.
“Always do” is a wee bit suggestive, too.
Syr’Nj And Byron, sittin’ in a tree…
Is this the first time we really see Syr’Nj’s body art?
Not quite.
