Annotated 44-13
Alt text didn’t work for some readers, who associated it with “omega wolf,” the lowest-ranking member of a wolf pack (in a theory about wolf behavior that’s mostly been discredited now). God is kind of a lone wolf in any case.
Given that the rest of this chapter is mostly walking through the snow and talking by the fire, we needed this action scene to be absolutely mind-blowing, and John did not disappoint.

Great colours!
Yes, he went hard with the lights and shadows too.
The imagery is a bit weird. Is he trying to climb up a crumbling cliff, struggling to avoid a fall? Or is he merely using it as a scratching post, confusedly thinking himself to be a cat?
Also: Did Frigg just climb up that cliff, away from him? It doesn’t matter a huge lot, but it’s kind of ambivalent because I’m not sure if it has any significance.
Also, that Wolf still looks like a bear to me. If it had not been called a wolf several times within the story and in comments, I’d still think it was a bear for some reason. Even though the teeth seen here are definitely not bear teeth, there’s still something bear-y about it. Might be the muscles and wide head that make it look more massive than what I associate with wolves.
If I had to guess, Frigg ‘fell’ through the ice and landed on the precipice she’s currently standing on. The Wolf is climbing up to meet her.
ohhh, that suddenly makes sense! Kind of obvious, at least in hindsight…
