Sorry for the late posting on this one, folks. I was busy breeding and trading Pokémon with professional athletes and it slipped my mind.

Can’t you just feel the armor eh?
Is the C silent in “Scipio,” or is it pronounced, given the alliteration with “scorpion” and the apparent Roman-ish derivation?
I would believe the C is silent that’s how I’ve been pronouncing it. when I try to use the C it makes the name sound strange.
So you’ve been pronouncing it as sippyo, and you think Scipio sounds strange? Huh.
Nope, the C is not silent, as it is pronounced in Latin.
So it’s Skippy-oh? As in “Skippy-oh the bush-kangaroo-oh”?
I have been pronouncing it like the Roman Generals name.
There are now three of us? o_O
Hurry up next chapter!
The Roman general’s name can be pronounced either way, since it’s a proper noun, Latin’s inconsistent about ‘SC’ sounds, and nobody’s around to ask. My classics teacher back in school pronounced it with a silent C, for what that’s worth (i.e. nothing).
In Latin, I don’t think there’s any real evidence either way how the name is supposed to be pronounced. Scipio Africanus has been dead for a long long time, so we can’t really ask him. As far as I know, both “Sippy-oh” and “Skippy-oh” are accepted pronounciations of the name in Latin. Modern pronounciation of Latin is a bit of a mess anyway since it’s a dead language now (so there’s no direct reference) which also changed over time while it was still alive (so what was “correct” at one time might have been “wrong” at another). Just look at stuff like Ceasar (Seesar/Kaizar) or Cicero (Sissero/Kikkero).
Still, if “Word of God” says that the C isn’t silent, then that’s the only “correct” way to prounounce GA Scipio’s name. Which is fine by me since that’s the way I’ve been pronouncing it in my head anyway.
I think it’s like “Science”, so it would be pronounced “Seepio”?
Also I fail at replying.
Wait. Are you saying you pronounce “science” as “see-ense”? o_0 I’d think you just meant the c being silent, but that would make it “Sippio” not “Seepio”.
Or are you trying to say that he’s a fussy golden protocol droid?
Wow. Just wow. His reply was just wow.
Hey I found one of my old comments!!!!
I can’t stop laughing at the third panel. He’s just so angry and confused, yet determined.
I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my internet or if the site is just slow, but the picture isn’t loading for me. :(
Why on Arkerra is Scipio such a man of so few words ?
Scipio is doing the shaka sign wrong, the thumb is supposed to pointed at his mouth, not his pinky finger.
He’s not doing any sign; he’s using his pinky as a letter-opener.
‘Shaka’ sign? Didn’t know Shaka Zulu had a ‘sign’
I just read all the archives in two days. This comic is awesome, and I am sad that I caught up.
This is the most emotion we’ve seen out of Scipio yet! Ever. Look at those frown lines!
Even in bed, he’s calmer than that.
How I feel looking through my junk email…
… What is a “Nick Offerman”?
(…He asks, ignoring the existence of Google.)
