Wow….the fourth and last Panel,Hammerhead Looks totally awesome from this angle when you can’t see the hammershaped head. And i think i will like him even more as a character after this is over.
now that you mention it.you are right. That WOULD make him much more awesome.
Its the same Thing with Werewolfs. They SHOULD have tails, its just Looks cooler.
Whether or not it devolves into a full-on death-fight, I think this is definitely about the time that Penk’s gonna have to show why he was considered worthy of Tectonicus’ might.
I think the only one who can hope to direct the stream of hulk-level damage that is Hammerhead is Penk. After all it was he who managed to get the big guy to sign up in the first place. But if Hammer has lost faith in Penk’s commitment to the war, then only death will calm him. Here’s hoping Penk can step up.
I do the same thing to people. Explaining that there are three branches of the United States government? Saying that the oven cooks things, but sometimes overcooks them if you leave them in too long? If you’re going to be stupid I’ll be stupid right back until we can agree on a level of assumed intelligence we can start from.
As the comedian Gallagher has said, “When you’re confronted with ignorance & stupidity, the only way to attack it is with more ignorance & stupidity. It’s all they understand.”
And as said by another comedian, Ron white, “You can’t fix stupid.”
You’re right, of course, but he IS talking to a landshark. Hammerhead may be the smartest landshark known to trollkind, but Penk is still working relative to the landshark default – barely above animal intelligence. So, it’s understandable if he misjudges Hammerhead’s mental capabilities.
That said, from Hammerhead’s words in the last panel, I think it’s clear that he’s not upset at the implication that he is stupid. Rather, at a guess based on yesterday’s dialog, I’d imagine Hammerhead is morally offended.
“How dare you suggest that I set aside my deeply held principles of “eat prey” for the sake of mere short term tactical gain! How dare you! Shut your gob you immoral philistine!”
I agree, it’s logical for land sharks to have strong views about preys…
also maybe he can see the implications of calling a truce. It mean that peace is a possibility and if there is no war there are no ennemy to design as “prey”, but land sharks still have to eat. A lot. We’ve seen them turn on each other, and thats when they’re well fed. So any peace would soon degenerate into “landshark vs everyone else because they are all prey”. That could mean the extermination of their race. It’s not that landshark are stupid, they can be cunning (while hunting at least), but they are driven by their instinct to kill and their unsatiable hunger. Peace is not really an option for them… even if there was like, huge herds of large animals they could prey upon instead of people they would probably still eat anybody getting too close because in the heat of the moment they forgot they weren’t supposed too.
It’s a difference of goals, apparently. Penk fights so that the trolls can survive; he only values food to the extent that it’s necessary to live. Hammerhead fights so that the land sharks can feed; he only values life to the extent that it’s necessary to eat.
He went wrong in the previous panel when he didn’t correct Hammerhead’s misapprehension that “enemy” and “prey” are the same thing. “Prey” is something you hunt. “Enemy” is something that wishes to harm you. There can be a lot of overlap, but it is possible for things to change category.
Also: Priorities! If your prey is helping you defeat your enemy, hold off on eating them until *after* the enemy is gone.
Okay, so with the sheer power of his fury, Hammerhead somehow snapped off and threw off his rope-bound muzzle, freeing up his most powerful weapon: his jaws.
Forget the chains, and golem hands: Penk should be at least a little scared.
Only thing that confuses me is why he couldn’t wait until they were exhausted after vanquishing the monster to attack them. If his hide wasn’t so damn tough, I imagine that impetousness should’ve gotten him killed in numerous past conflicts.
KISS ME ALREADY YOU FOOL
Sharks and trolls can eat my bones but words can never hurt me.
I dare you say that to a sky elf.
or a wood elf DOING SCIENCE!
Or any bard, for that matter

Well, Penk IS a bard, after all…
Power Word: Kill. o:
Penk, I don’t think he doesn’t get it. He just doesn’t give a shit.
Yeah. Also, it would be a good idea to, let’s say, GTFO.
He’s got a point.
Panel 4 – even HAMMERHEAD understands the definition of ‘trolling’
Trolls gotta Troll. Poor hammerhead.
its an affliction really, for only 15 dollars a day you can have this troll change his trolololo ways.
Not trolling. It’s trollsplainin’.
Wow….the fourth and last Panel,Hammerhead Looks totally awesome from this angle when you can’t see the hammershaped head. And i think i will like him even more as a character after this is over.
I enjoy hammerhead but I do wish that he had a tail. It would be so much cooler.
now that you mention it.you are right. That WOULD make him much more awesome.
Its the same Thing with Werewolfs. They SHOULD have tails, its just Looks cooler.
Plus if he armors it he would have an ax tail.
I feel like Penk is about THIS close to just going, “You know what, fuck it.” And clubbing in Hammerhead to keep him quiet for a few hours.
He’s gonna have to kill him.
Whether or not it devolves into a full-on death-fight, I think this is definitely about the time that Penk’s gonna have to show why he was considered worthy of Tectonicus’ might.

What are the glowy things popping off his back?
Small windows, I believe. You can see more of them on the left side of the panel.
Ahhh, okay. I thought they were associated with the motion streaks.

And as John Cleese said, “The problem with people like this is that they are so stupid, they have no idea how stupid they are.”
Words are useless! You can’t eat words!
Tell that to the Gastonian government.
*rimshot* and very appropriate pic!
And so it begins.
Oh dear…
At least the food is ok in this prison…bit spiky, maybe.
Angry Shark is angry.
Yeah Penk, that didn’t sound condescending at all…

Anger management issues. srsly.
Those manic mondays are hell for berserkers.
Penk needs to assign Hammerhead to some Sensitivity Courses…

But then they might get away! And then you can’t eat them!
Hey, Phil. My “Next Chapter” bug is back, I see, where “Next Chapter” leads to Chapter 1.
I aint gonna lie, I wonder how Penk is gonna handle this…dammit Friday, why arent you here yet??
Penk’s face in panel three? He’s trolling the fuck out of Hammerhead.
He’s got a plan, here.
Okay, so with the sheer power of his fury, Hammerhead somehow snapped off and threw off his rope-bound muzzle, freeing up his most powerful weapon: his jaws.
Forget the chains, and golem hands: Penk should be at least a little scared.
That reminds me, isn’t the closing of one’s jaws much stronger than the opening of one’s jaws? Makes me wonder just how hard Hammerhead can bite.
Hard enough that it wouldn’t make any difference to you or me…
O.o
Only thing that confuses me is why he couldn’t wait until they were exhausted after vanquishing the monster to attack them. If his hide wasn’t so damn tough, I imagine that impetousness should’ve gotten him killed in numerous past conflicts.
Penk, you should know better than trying to reason with a shite-for-brains.
