Chapter 11 – Page 4
No, we didn’t suddenly remember to add the title and credits to this page two weeks after the fact. Why do you ask?

OR drag you across the floor. Same thing.
I love the look on Byron’s face in the last panel as he is being dragged. Priceless!
£2.99.
That look, expression or whatever… is £2.99 … as is any other one that any mofo dares to declare “priceless”.
SCIENCE’D
There’s always science to do.
I’m doing science and I’m still alive…
Frigg can put aside her differences.
For science.
You monster.
…are you still there?
[by the way. Love you all]
SCIENCE!
BECAUSE IT WORKS.
You forgot an L in smiled in the first panel. Crazy eyed Byron more than makes up for it though
What do you mean? “Smied” is totally a word now. I use it everyday.
“Smied.” Past tense of “to Smee” : to act as second banana to a bad guy who really doesn’t know when to quit.
It’s the new Queen’s English.
Not only is the ‘K’ sometimes silent, but the ‘L’ is sometimes invisible.
Both typos have been corrected. Y’know, if you’re into that sort of thing.
You smied them right out of the park, sir.
I find it interesting that, while Best is naturally singing about himself, the lyrics are certainly not what others would expect.
Yes, I always thought that Best was a slightly more sympathetic character that wasn’t fully deserving of the demonization dealt to him here. This is just more fuel for the day when I actually decide it’s worth arguing about such things over the internet.
There’s a good few of us that think Best isn’t that bad. He’s a douche, yes, but not a total jerkoff.
Paranormal Frigtivity
I’m all for science, but was the echolocation bit really necessary? Seems like Syr’nj could have achieved the same result by just walking around the room poking at the mirrors with her eyes shut. I suppose it’s a nice ego boost to let Best feel like he’s helping, but if there’s one ego that doesn’t need boosting…
Yes, but this way Best also gets to roll if Syr’nj flubs hers.
And after all, two elves with “Sense Hidden Door” as a racial ability are better than one.
As noted by the “they don’t respond when I touch them” from Tombdirt and Best’s belated “I thought I felt…” in the following panel, the illusion has a tactile element. She did actually need a sense to tell her that the thing wasn’t there, and hearing fit the bill.
Also, as it’s a trap, there are probably consequences for poking the wrong mirrors too many times.
But if the illusion doesn’t account for sounds, how come the three groups can’t hear one another?
It does, but as she explained, the trap itself has a sort of built in backdoor. The trap is intended to be bypassed in the way she’s bypassing it, because that kind of sonar requires you be an elf.
Or, y’know, blind since birth.
FRIGG FIND GOOD MAN
COME BACK TO FRIGG’S CAVE
COOK FOR FRIGG
I suppose Byron is a good man. He certainly isn’t the best man.
She already had the Best man
Looks like the Best…
*shades”
… Just wasn’t good enough.
Dammit Locke, now Ill have to live my whole life with the realization that I cant possibly make a joke this good and well timed. *envies*
I’m pretty danged colorblind . . . and Frigg’s “aura” looks grey to me. Is that because it’s actually grey, ir is it because I’m colorblind?
And if it’s not colored, does that mean anything?
It’s grey. Doubt it means anything since there was a grey tube as well as the rest of the colors represented by outlines that we see.
Thank you.
(I suppose I should have also asked “and were any of the tubes grey back on that earlier page?” I had just assumed that because some of them were colored, they all were colored.)
It’s grey. I think that’s just her color. Best has a yellow-centric color scheme, syrnj green, byron red. Frigg dresses in grey. I don’t think there’s anything more to it yet, though I could certainly be proven wrong quickly and with great ease.
Maybe it symbolizes how she’s closest to the dark side, but that’s a bit of a grey area.
Yeah, there doesn’t appear to be a black-and-white answer to Frigg.
That holy hammer power of hers was yellow. Clearly she got it from sleeping with Best.
Sleeping with Best grants superpowers. This is now an entirely new comic.
It’s also possible that it isn’t an “aura” at all, just a silhouette. The coloured outlines are what Gravedust is seeing, the panel where Byron is getting dragged is from his perspective, sorta.
Don’t think it means anything either way.
What are all of you talking about? Her aura is bright pink. I thought it was funny, you know, in an ironic sort of way.
Does the black outline mean Gravedust himself, between panels three and five, became unable to see Frigg naturally?
(I’m also fairly sure acoustics is spelled with one c)
Pretty sure we’re seeing the grey outline for Frigg in those last panels because we’re seeing it from Byron’s actual perspective.
If Byron was an outline, then we could see Frigg.
AHEM
“It appears this trap sequence won’t drag on.”
Indeed, when I read the comments I noticed a gaping hole where the puns should be.
Well at least we know we were right – one does not waltz out of mirror door. One stumbles blindly. It’s not the Best way, which is why Syr’nj had to do it, but it works.
I call this song, “Sweet Best o’ Mine”.
And some people actually LIKE Bes’ts Lyrics?
Well, there’s no accousting for taste.
Hey, if it’s the best he can do, there’s no reason to string him up.
Well, they are too bad. But if this is the best Best can do, imagine what his worst is.
Don’t they make you smy?
So…. Anyone curious about this “vow” Gravedust is talking about?
She vowed to protect everyone in the group, and that’s what kept her from killing Byron after being revived. Also probably what keeps her from knocking him upside the head right now and leaving his unconscious ass to figure this out on his own.
She is really not fond of Byron at this particular interval of time, what on account of the events immediately prior to her death.
To protect the party (and not beat or otherwise take revenge on Byron for going berserk). See ch. 10.
An Escher lavatory would be horrible. Just… so horrible.
In Soviet Russia, lavatory craps in you!
“Oh good…it’s everywhere!”
Somehow this page made me smile with glee! Love it when teamwork makes everyone’s bit fall together smoothly in place…
Must. Resist. Urge. To. Make. Bad. Euphamisms.
And. Urge. To. Pointlessly. Punctuate. Sentences.
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Have you been taking speech lessons from William Shatner ?
Err, no, whatever can you mean? It’s not like ham acting is laughed at in any of the above. :)
Hah, i totally called it! I said getting out would start with closing your eyes.
Where’s my gold star?
Given that losing sight of each other “separated” them, I’d say that starting by closing one’s eyes would be a risky proposition.
I’d love a rating function for the comments. It’d give me an easy way to express the gratitude for adding so much fun to each strip. And if I’m in a hurry, it would allow me to scan through the comments quickly without missing the most hilarious and/or interesting ones.
While I’m usually against any form of rating function, it may work here since the people who usually comment are really nice.
There’s more than one person who would read a kind sentiment like yours and take it as a challenge to be a bigger dick
at least I hope there is because otherwise I am alone in this world
surely I cannot be the only troll on the internet
Don’t you love when teamwork wins the day? ^_^
I wonder why Best and Syr’nj stood together, as did Gravedust and Frigg, but Byron was left alone. It could be just the fact that both couples where talking at the time it triggered, but I still wonder if it’s not something else.
I still like the “needing to get on with person X” version. Frig and Gravey need to learn to tolerate each other, as do Syr’nj and Best. Byron needs to learn to get on with himself.
will you stop making such brilliant works all the time? i barely recover from your previous idea and you bring a new wonderfull brilliant and nonstandartic situation
This chapter had better contain parkour, a tough Asian girl, and lots of blindingly-white buildings, or I will be very disappointed.
