I still hope that the Orcs will somehow join the Gastonia forces and get a country on their own. Those poor greenskins would deserve it for so many of them being enslaved and treated like uhm… slaves. :c
I can sympathize. Minmaxing every other month to compete with the bullshit skill and character exploits PvPers find? What’s the fun in levelling a character for PvP if he may suddenly be stricken invalid by an errant patch? Never to be viable again. MUHMORPURGERS are way too deep a timesink to waste on characters that might only be playable for a couple months.
…oh wait, no, they’re just a waste of time in general.
Or for those of us that can’t reconnect with college D&D buddies because they live half a state away…and can’t find a local group that is (girl) friendly enough to make me want to stay. MMOs are great for wasting time with family that’s on the other side of the country (hello, Ventrilo!) and they’re pretty besides.
But I kinda wish I knew people that pranced around playing pretend in the woods…that sounds like fun. =D And that’s funny, coming from someone that isn’t into camping or roughing it.
I used to MMO alone.
One of those fellows in Guild Wars who would hero-run all the PvE campaigns… even on Hard Mode where possible. One of those fellows who would attempt to solo 8-man dungeons in Mabinogi (and generally fail until I was mad overskilled).
Then I gave up.
Fuck MMOs. They just gave me the same problems as real life : I do it all alone and I can never quite be good enough for anything.
After that, I went back to the Dynasty Warriors games and revelled in having a 4-figure solo killcount.
Question: In Kingdoms of Arkerra are dwarves normally available as player characters or is Gravedust’s player an exception? Cause I imagine the events in the story may have messed with their playability.
I’m perplexed. How can the Savage Races not have their own heroes already? There was the group that Adventurer’s Guild Team 2 tangled with on the docks. Shanna’s visit to Hurricane showed that both sides have access to player characters. So what gives?
At this point, the Gastonian Adventurer’s Guild better step up its recruitment drive and start making Teams 3, 4, 5, etc. The Adventuring Party Arms Race of Arkerra has just begun.
Okay, so we have “a smattering of rogues.” Time to specify the other classes’ plurals. “A plainsong of paladins?” “A fightclub of cultists?” “A gravyboat of mystics?”
Hey, first time poster but long time reader here! Well, not the BIG REVEAL long, but, you know–I’d have to go through the archives again to try to pinpoint where I came in… mmm, archives… *ahem* Anyway, I’ve just got to say this is one of the best webcomics I’ve read–right up there with Order of the Stick, Zap!, and Goblins. Hell, it’s probably one of the best comics I’ve read. The writing is great, the art is fantastic, and the new site is wonderful. I started reading it and was pulled in pretty much immediately–almost like I was in my own tube (okay, maybe not quite that much, but close). The intrigue, the action, the humor–it’s all amazing! Plus, now it updates five times a week! We get 1.5 times as much Guilded Age a week! Keep up the awesome work!
Specifically at John & Jason: I simply love your attention to detail in all of the pages. As an aspiring artist myself, my eyes just devour everything. However, special mention goes to panels one and three of this page–I love the fact that you actually had many of the same background/foreground characters appear in both with the same positions relative to each other. I know from experience that doing that sort of thing takes a bit of work, so I just wanted to make sure that didn’t go unnoticed. Keep up the fantastic work!
Oh no, they’ve discovered the most powerful weapon of all…..player characters.
Somebody roll up a Cleric, I’ll roll up a Barbarian…
It’s the start of the goblins webcomic all over again.
We just need a character called Dies Horribly. Maybe an anagram of Dies Horribly? Like… Shrib L. Riedoy?
I’ve always said that the most dangerous encounter a party can have is another party.
I’m so glad we finally get to play as the Savage Races in this expansion
And they’ve totally nerfed orcs, haven’t they? They were just in that one strip.
Yeah, the devs totally favor trolls, just look at all the regen buffs.
I still hope that the Orcs will somehow join the Gastonia forces and get a country on their own. Those poor greenskins would deserve it for so many of them being enslaved and treated like uhm… slaves. :c
Odd to see a troll who doesn’t have Charisma as a dump stat.
It’s pretty much a prerequisite when you’re the leader of not only a nation but a coalition. :3
I wonder how many factions/races you can “coalesce” per X char points. Maybe like a single race per 4 char (16 for 4)?
So some disjointed sharkman with 4 charisma can unite a single nation under their banner?
Said banner consisting of a fish skeleton on top of a pole.
It used to be an entire fish but…time makes fools of us all.
Yeah, I suppose there should be a min. requirement and then count it from there.
I dunno… 4 seems like a pretty high stat for a landshark, and they gotta unite behind someone…
Win.
I can easily see this scene as being the intro for the player character when they start out as a Savage race character.
First quest: Go pick 5 herbs to make a poultice for Don Goblingo’s face.
Any thoughts on Penk signing up for that?
Also, Harky has made quite the speedy recovery. I’d have thought that a square yard of skin would take longer to grow back.
Then HR walks in.

HA HA SCREW MMO’S.
“MUHMORPURGERS”
I love when Yatzhee fans identify themselves :P
Though I have to agree.
ROFL…I knew I’d heard that from somewhere! He cracks me up and saves me the trouble of playing video games, all in one. The man is brilliant.
…b-but I like going on adventures wiff me fwends~ ;-;
That’s why I larp!
…Who am I kidding? I larp for the lols.
MMOs are for those of us who will never get the opportunity to prance around playing pretend in the woods.
And God knows I want to so bad. :(

Family? In an MMO?
Really?
I used to MMO alone.

They could be like the Pandaren in WoW, with more than one faction within the race and the player choosing each character’s allegiance.
Excellent. The Champion of the Fuzzy People has got to be one of these “Champions” Harky speaks of. Probably also his Herald.
I’m perplexed. How can the Savage Races not have their own heroes already? There was the group that Adventurer’s Guild Team 2 tangled with on the docks. Shanna’s visit to Hurricane showed that both sides have access to player characters. So what gives?
Alt text. It speaks with words of wisdom.
So the team that went against AG Team 2 was really just a bunch of unique NPCs?
Harky might be playing the crowd, to get the SR heroes to come forward and announce themselves.
Panel One: “Really, we had caught a fish thiiisss big!”
Okay, ya got me. I surrender!
Then someone summoned a bigger fish.
Hey, I wonder what Iver thinks of the last Savasti mystic being alive.
“Oh bother…”
He might guess that Gravedust is in fact the reason they came back.
At this point, the Gastonian Adventurer’s Guild better step up its recruitment drive and start making Teams 3, 4, 5, etc. The Adventuring Party Arms Race of Arkerra has just begun.
Boss Harky… ya had me at smatterin’. I aint smat a ‘ero for months.
Carebears can be a Savage Race indeed.
Is it coincidence that the savage races flag/coat of arms is red and black? Methinks not.
Aww, that actually makes me kinda … sad. Dunnowhy.
Okay, so we have “a smattering of rogues.” Time to specify the other classes’ plurals. “A plainsong of paladins?” “A fightclub of cultists?” “A gravyboat of mystics?”
What he’s really saying here is that the Savage Races need more DPS.
They need Necroway.
i.e. Necrohealer, Spiteful Spiriter, Minion Master.
An oh-shit! of berserkers.
A grief of gankers.
A murder of crows.
This Harky guy is really smart. Impressive and even endearing.
Will he really not get what he wants?
Harky is a nut, a crazed fanatic who wishes to unleash a fiery Armageddon upon his entire world.
I’d still vote for him.
P.S.
Garrosh sucks.
P.P.S.
I really hate Garrosh.
*King Arthur voice* : You’re a looney !
THE DALEKS ARE PLEASED BY THE FORTHCOMING EXTERMINATION.

Heh. I love how at odds my disgruntled Gondolessa avatar is with the content of my post.
