No. No, lies are not truth. That is stupid. That is the kind of stupid only “good” people engage in.

Sorry, this is just going to be kind of blithering, I guess, and not at all funny (DOUBLE SORRY) but dang, I have been REALLY enjoying this chapter. What’s made the last few pages so truly effective is how comically the chapter started out, with the convention gags and the light banter and friendship between Ashok and Ulak. And that’s been delightful enough on its own, with the juxtaposition of “hey, cultists are people, too” and “OK, but they’re doing some seriously messed up stuff,” but it means that when we see a dude’s throat get slit while he’s crying in front of an enormous crowd of cheering people, it hits a lot harder than it would have if we hadn’t spent the last couple weeks laughing at and with Ashok and Ulak. So, that’s nice, but it also does a really good job, I think, of showing how much influence somebody like Brother Tom can have over people who’ve decided to throw in with the Countless Limbs.

Haha, sorry, I know this comment’s kind of ridiculous (and long). But. I’m one of those readers who drifted away for a while after the Game-Changing Reveal of Chapter 9, and then I drifted back, pretty recently (like, really recently), and I’ve been reading and rereading. I still don’t know how I feel about Sepia World, but I do know that I’m excited to find out how everything ties together, and I’m really impressed and pleased with how my biggest fear re: Sepia World – that things that happen in Arkerra won’t have the same impact after Chapter 9 – was unfounded and premature. So, thanks, I guess is what I’m saying? Just thanks, so much, for all the thought and care that’s gone into this comic, from the writing (the worldbuilding! How important all the ladies are and the complicated relationships they have with each other!) to the artwork – I know Waltrip’s work has been the subject of some debate, but I think the blend of cartoony gags and the very detailed, sometimes very subtle character work (and the lighting!!!) fit the tone perfectly.

Anyway. I’m really glad I came back. :)

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY: Being hated’s also the price one pays for being a douche. Just a thing I’ve heard, I wouldn’t know.

not so much… the Nazi’s wanted to rule everyone, these cultists want to simply kill everyone.

both evil organizations, to be sure, but not necessarily linked – especially since the three legged spiral thingy is a pretty old sign used by a lot of real life religeon’s (though this use is a lot more evil-looking) rtaher than being molded after a swaztika (which speaking logically, was actually a jewish symbol* before hitler and his freinds aprehended it and used it for, well, naziism).

      * I think – or isreal. or other… I’m not good at religeons XD

… That isn’t a swastika though. It is a triskelion.

Everyone else thinks “Nazis” and here I am thinking they’re just a palette-swap of the Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign.

Anyone else get the impression that with his picture-conjuring (or maybe it’s scrying, whatever) and exaggerated gestures + facial expressions, Brother Tom would make a great children’s storyteller?

(There must be a parallel with riling up a mob here, something like ‘telling a story that’s simple to understand, and gets your audience engaged’.)
