Emory and Henry I left with a metaphor
Burning bridges lost forevermore
Fightopia, huh? This guy seems like a slightly more intelligent version of fighter fom 8-bit theater. Hopefully this will lead to sword-chucks. *crosses fingers*
Looks like a metaphor for Zanzibar Land, complete with poisonous Zanzibar Hamsters.
Or Shadow Moses, or Outer Heaven, or Liquidia… it just reminds me of Metal Gear/MGS.
Kingdoms of Arkerra: Guardians of Winter, is currently set for Q3 release once the latest expansion has time to settle in with all hotfixes applied to current servers.
Altruists == secret shadow guys (supposedly) in control of the entire country.
Peacekeepers == public servants, receiving orders from Field Marshall Ardaic.
From the perspective of the common people, especially those prone to conspiracy theories, the peacekeepers might as well be “secret shadow guys” and the text implies that the Altruists serve those who control the country (their secret shadow guys), not control it themselves which is in line with peacekeeper employment conditions.
Also the words peacekeeper and altruist, while very different, have similar connotations and the whole thing feels like a mix up by someone only half-informed, like these Fightopians for example.
Okay, y’see, this is what happens when you let someone who’s had a few too many blows to the head have ideas. Fighters should be kept in proper adventuring parties so they don’t GET things like that. It’s just not healthy!
Also, “totally prosperous.” Reeeeal convincing there fighter guy. *places a bet on “Fightopia” lasting all of two months*
I have to say, I was not expecting a Metal Gear reference to just show up. This stuff is hard enough for me to understand and keep track of, if you guys start taking the Kojima route, I don’t know HOW I’ll keep up.
…Well, the history books will clean it all up.
They shall remember the great land of Fightopia! A utopia of fighting…wait, that makes no sense!
That frigg avatar really fits your comment. XD
Fire: pretty
Partisan: idiot
Partisan: burnt pancake at bottom of chasm.
He was using IEeeeeee, and it upated too slowly.
The fire represents immigration reform.
Also the lettering seems to be trying to escape the guy’s word balloon in the first panel.
It’s a metaphor for not breaking outdated traditions.
-not
Dammit, I should reread before submission when I change the phrase…
Nah, he’s just trying to throw his voice!
Or maybe talking out of the side of his mouth?
Hulahaluahag
Fixed.
Uh, I’m not sure it is. That, or my display is squewy again.
Not just you
Looked like it was still wrong, so I hit refresh. And viola, fixed version appears. Try that.
That worked. Huh.
I guess it was just a cached page, or some such.
Heh, love those guys.
Note though: the text in the mystery-man’s second speech bubble in panel one appears to be slightly misplaced.
Aaand ninja’d by Timelost.
Although, I just noticed that there don’t seem to be any tags, either…
Text is fixed, still no tags though
I’m assuming you’re aware of it already but if not, first panel third bubble text is off-center
Obviously the right words escape him
They left the bubble.
I don’t know, I’m not sure what fire has to do with “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.”
Like, totally. Gag me with a spatula and see if I, like, flip over your totally prosperous nation.
Is that Sunder with a missing eye or did Solid Snake let himself go?
I’m trying to remember what happened to Sundar the last time we saw him… could that be him?
It was implied that he met a somewhat grizzly end via bayen and brayen.
Byron avoids killing other human beings as part of his code; “No one should kill their own kind.”
…don’t burn your bridges before they hatch?
A fightopia in the hand is worth two in the burning bush….
Out of Gastonia and into the bridge fire!
All these burning bridges that are falling after me
Truth and secrets that I’ve learned from Brunhilde
Emory and Henry I left with a metaphor
Burning bridges lost forevermore
not a gold star but A for effort. Make that A+ for remembering that song.
I’ve GOT to buy you a book of proverbs or something, cuz this mix and match crap’s gotta go
No use crying over spilled chickens calling the kettle into the fire, you know.
Yeah man, just build a bridge, and get over it.
This country is full of very steep cliffs and canyons. Also, bridges of tinder.
Fightopia? More like Myopia.
Fightopia, huh? This guy seems like a slightly more intelligent version of fighter fom 8-bit theater. Hopefully this will lead to sword-chucks. *crosses fingers*
I hope they like swords!
Looks like a metaphor for Zanzibar Land, complete with poisonous Zanzibar Hamsters.
Or Shadow Moses, or Outer Heaven, or Liquidia… it just reminds me of Metal Gear/MGS.
I like the noodle traders. Good comedy characters, there, like the wood-carriers from Usagi Yojimbo.
So, Patch is someone we have seen before?
He looks like he took classes at the Scipio school of war, but didn’t learn more than how to don his armor.
Odd thought here while looking through the archives…
Have we ever encountered character in this entire series?
Darn it, bad HTML on my part.
“Have we ever encountered a winter elf character in this entire series?”
http://guildedage.net/comic/chapter-1-page-13/
Hmm, I would have to say… Not yet. But perhaps someday!
Presumably, a few of the cultists at Armageddacon were winter elves. Since it was the joining of “all races” and such.
The Winter Elves have just been… Forgotten :P
Kingdoms of Arkerra: Guardians of Winter, is currently set for Q3 release once the latest expansion has time to settle in with all hotfixes applied to current servers.
And thus, the great famine of Fightopia did begin with the failed plot to secure the Ramen train.
that was going to be my comment. Secure the food supply *before* you isolate yourself.
Altruists = Peacekeepers?

Altruists != Peacekeepers

In any case it’s just speculation.
Let’s burn that bridge when we come to it.

Too bad the fightopiator didn’t spend a little more time with the ox drivers. I would have loved to hear them discuss philosophy.
Somebody mentioned this already but why do all Fantasy settings have deep chasms? Although, that could just be a server glitch.
I have to say, I was not expecting a Metal Gear reference to just show up. This stuff is hard enough for me to understand and keep track of, if you guys start taking the Kojima route, I don’t know HOW I’ll keep up.
Yes, and no, Henry.
What you are witnessing is literal, and so cannot be a metaphor.
However, its implications are metaphorical, but you were just talking about the burning bridge, weren’t you?
He burned that bridge as they came to it?
