“Divine” magic here is fueled by strength of will. Rachel’s is in her faith, Frigg’s in her own badassery. But check the holy cajones on this sumbish…
Okay, he can’t have lost his eye here. Not really. Go back to chapter 3 and look again: 2 eyes, perfectly fine. Was the same way in chapter 2. Byron questioned him, with Syr’Nj’s help. So: EYE. NOT. LOST. HERE.
I’m not sure if it’s Ardaic. Since this takes place between chapter 3 (Sundar still has both eyes there) and current time, Ardaic is already a high and mighty lord and I don’t really see why he would bother showing up to punish someone who freed some of Gastonia’s Orc slaves.
Then again, the resemblance to Ardaic is certainly there, and he mentioned in the last page that Brunhilde was a hired adventurer, much in the same way he hired the peacemakers.
Look through the archives where Ardaic shows up. He tends to be very defensive of Gastonia, and you know, I could see him going so far as to fight in person when necessary as a Crusader. I bet that the chummy, endearing moments between Ardaic and Syr’Nj are to make him more approachable and likeable, so the knife hurts more when we realize the evil he’s done in the name of protecting Gastonia.
I’ve seen helms that are also masks, with facial details worked in, something like musculata armor, but I’ve never seen one with an enormous, flowing mustache. I noticed that detail in the prior comic. Whether or not that’s Ardaic, I’m sure it’s meant to suggest Ardaic.
Uh, not sure we can actually tell his eye colour at the moment. In both his pages, the Silver Centurion has been in quite unusual lighting situations, which wash all his colours towards grey. That said, whatever colour the eyes are, brown does seem unlikely (it would take really wierd lighting to send brown towards grey). Although, now that I think of it, changing eye-colour to represent different power-states is a pretty standard method of appearance-based signalling.
It might be an, as of yet, unknown Antagonist. Or somebody who is killed by Mama Bear during the fight.
What made me think about this entire scene is (as always) Good vs Evil. I think that what we see here is a clash of “Two Goods”. It is all a matter of perspective but that does make me realise that I do not think we ever saw any Orcs.
Oh, I know we saw them two pages ago. I was thinking “In General”. We saw Trolls, Gnomes, Shark People… I just never saw any Orcs… I think… I am curious whether they are so few in number that they appear neither in Gastonia nor among the Savage Races.
You aren’t the only one. I read the alt text in otacon’s voice
Incidentally, I really hate fighting high level spellcasters….especially warrior mages. They get to survive long enough to get seriously badass, without being a drag on the team, then we end up with reality warping powers plus the ability to take it. He won’t be going down easily
Frig, Syr, Harky, and now this person. When you have that many deities intervening in such a direct way, it means we’re gearing up for Armageddon and the end of an Age.
Also might be seeing it from the side in the last panel (he turned it face on so he could put his hand on the blade to brace it without it cutting his moustache off)
The “made out of pure magic energy” thing kinda does. He summons whatever weapons/tools are needed/useful at any given time, and shapes them how he will. When blocking, the lack of spikes became useful, and presumably he had a similar use for the logner, skinnier sword.
I’m thinking that the Silver Centurion might be that Lieutenant Jarlssen mentioned a few pages ago… you know, the guy who wasn’t “deft” enough to deal with Fightopia? I mean, for them to have a fighting chance, we’d have to have faith that he wouldn’t pull out his big glowy stabbyshit again :P
Not the face!
Aww, that eye was my favorite T.T
X.T
You called down the thunder, now it’s time to reap the whirlwi-
Oh, nevermind.
Spin to win !!!
He really should have kept an eye out.
No, the Centurion knew his blind spot.
Guess he didn’t see that coming…
He got blind-sided.
Hindsight’s a bitch.
He should have put that attack up for a vote, because clearly the eyes have it.
Oh come on, that’s just cornea.
Dost thou dislike the cone-y jokes?
Brunhild is a sight to see!
also finally Phil gets a Cyclops cameo
He got stabbed in the eye.
Queue up:
Spare the rod, spoil the child.
That centurion really socket to him.
He was blinded by the light far more painful than being blinded by science.
Don’t look now!
That hurt just to watch…
Pun intended:

Holy magic sucks.
Holy magic ROCKS.
>implying this is holy magic
It is divine magic. Whether that’s holy or unholy depends on your opinion of the deity.
I don’t know what this is but it’s awesome as heck.
I thought it was explained to be life energy
Looks like a different hued version of Frigg and Rachel’s ‘Divine’ powers.
But powered up to a rather impressive degree; full on magic weapons instead of just imbued unarmed strikes.
“Divine” magic here is fueled by strength of will. Rachel’s is in her faith, Frigg’s in her own badassery. But check the holy cajones on this sumbish…
Which really should confirm Ardaic – only House Iwatani has comparable strength of will/cajones.
You mean their glowyhammershit?
oh. there goes the eye.
Okay, he can’t have lost his eye here. Not really. Go back to chapter 3 and look again: 2 eyes, perfectly fine. Was the same way in chapter 2. Byron questioned him, with Syr’Nj’s help. So: EYE. NOT. LOST. HERE.
Unless this took place AFTER Chapter 3 and before we caught up to him in Chapter 23.
20 chapters? That’s not nearly enough time for anything to happen in.
That’s what I keep telling him!
Well, you know what they say. Better than a – oh wait.
And that moustache really does make him look like Ardaic.
I’m still thinking he is.
I don’t see any piece of moustache stickinh out of the helmet.
3rd panel. Side view of helmet looks like his mustache.
His eyes remind me of Ardaic, if that makes any sense.

Yep yep. Helmet mustache and tilt of the eye all have that certain look, no?
According to the cast page Ardaic is a Knight not a Crusader so I don’t think it is him.
Yes, because knight crusaders are completely unheard of?
Actually, I don’t think it’s Ardaic. This guy has blue eyes, Ardaic has brown eyes.
Uh, not sure we can actually tell his eye colour at the moment. In both his pages, the Silver Centurion has been in quite unusual lighting situations, which wash all his colours towards grey. The lower cross-piece on the face-plate resembles a moustache made of metal.
It might be an, as of yet, unknown Antagonist. Or somebody who is killed by Mama Bear during the fight.

… I am scared of my own Avatar picture now…
We saw the orcs last page, they looked like hairless apes
Correction: two pages ago
Oh, I know we saw them two pages ago. I was thinking “In General”. We saw Trolls, Gnomes, Shark People… I just never saw any Orcs… I think… I am curious whether they are so few in number that they appear neither in Gastonia nor among the Savage Races.
Seeing how this is a flashback I’d assume the Orcs are either enslaved by Gas already or are all dead.
The last times we saw orcs were when they were being captured by troll slavers, then AS slaves at Souff Koural just before the TPK event.
I really like the effects for that sword, it looks like it could be made out of a constellation. The leaves (?) blowing on the wind look nice as well.
Could this be our lord of the bloodshot eye?
All I know is that is one big ass imaginary sword.
Ouuuuuuchh.
(Supposed to be at the bottom, didn’t mean to reply here)
Sundar… Sundar…. Sundarcats ho!
By the eye of Sundara, give me sight beyond sight
Am I the only one seeing a Metal Gear reference, or am I just that bad at getting the joke? XD
You aren’t the only one. I read the alt text in otacon’s voice

Pretty sure it was what Danny caught on to, rather than what you believed it to be.
No not the Eye!! Anything but the EYE!!!
Fission mailed.
that pun bombed
and these avatars match so well too
I’ve already warned people about sticking stars in the post.
I’ve just got to say: I love paladins anyway, but I especially enjoy their treatment in GA.
Hey! Be careful with that, you’ll put someone’s-
Damn. Too late.
It’s all fun and games untill someone los…. aww nevermind
Someone taking a scene out of Game of Thrones are we?
Also…
LEEEEERRROOO… *cough* SSSSUUUUNNNDDAAAAARRRR!
He would have lost something else if that was the case :P
It’s all fun and games until sundar loses an eye
Then it’s fucking hilarious?
Frig, Syr, Harky, and now this person. When you have that many deities intervening in such a direct way, it means we’re gearing up for Armageddon and the end of an Age.
Imagine that in the voice of any of the “Ancient Wisdoms” from Lord of the Rings. It’s awesome.
Beautiful work, as always!
Any chance these Silver folks are the “Altruists” Sundar was worried about?
I’m sorry, but can we discuss that dude’s EPIC ARMOR MUSTACHE please?
EPIC ARMOR MUSTACHE IS EPIC
Sundar must have really strong feelings about Mama Bear; he doesn’t usually gush like that.
called it
As mentioned earlier this guy is not adric because he has blue eyes not Brown eyes
Byron has brown eyes, but when he’s berserking they go cold blue. Maybe divine magic works similarly.
By the way did anyone else see his sword get Skinnier in the last box
It’s a sword made out of pure magic energy. It can do stuff like that.
Also might be seeing it from the side in the last panel (he turned it face on so he could put his hand on the blade to brace it without it cutting his moustache off)
Still doesn’t explain the lack of spikes on the sword
The “made out of pure magic energy” thing kinda does. He summons whatever weapons/tools are needed/useful at any given time, and shapes them how he will. When blocking, the lack of spikes became useful, and presumably he had a similar use for the logner, skinnier sword.
Take a fancy anything with spikey-type things on the side, then turn it so the things are facing you, can you still see them?
What’s that about a Skinner Box?
Sorry, I was too busy playing this MMO…
Sundar-cats Ho!!!
Well, Sundar, at least you don’t have to pull anything out of it. If you’re going to get stabbed, I guess, it might as well be with a Faith!Knife.
