    That’s not amplification.
That’s wintergreen fresh scent, to reassure the people of her sincerity and oral hygiene.

Ah yes, being told ‘If you’re innocent, you have nothing to fear’.

Cue roughly 75-95% of the town being caught in a lie about something. And even once everything gets sorted out, I doubt anyone will be happy about having their dirty laundry rifled through by the Peacemakers. Well played, Cultists.

I’m more expecting every single last town member to be a cultist, actually.

look at their hats and clothing. They’re obviously lumberjacks, not cultists.

they dont look very enthusiastic about this whole situation; they sleep all night and work all day.

Your innocence shall be proven through chair dunking and stone laying. The Gods will then take your soul to judge ye innocence.

All persons found guilty shall spend 10 years in hard labor and then freed.

Let me guess…rounding up the entire town together in one place is exactly what the cultists want.

I’m trying to envision any situation where a cop saying “no innocent person has anything to fear here” would reassure anyone. I can’t come up with anything.

Of course, where your solution to a murder is to drag an entire community in for questioning, I don’t suppose reassuring people is actually that high on your list of priorities.

I like this aspect to Keynes’ character. She knows what it’s like to be guiltless but judged guilty so she acts fairly according to that experience. :-)

True, but she started off on the wrong foot. She started out by telling everyone they were a suspect. There is a good chance they’ve been put on defensive now.

In panel three, E-Gurl is clearly making an inappropriate gesture in front of Bandit’s mouth to lighten the mood in the crowd.

“Those gnomes, you know… about yay tall… perfect height for a popular sex act, am I rite? Wink, nudge, grin!”

Just occurred to me, the ring around the residents of Beechmill.

I am assuming they are Peacemakers since half of them have weapons drawn.

Got to admit, that sort of environment could be kinda scary for a lumberjack who thought he was just going to head out to the woods after eating his flapjacks like any other day.

Man it would suck if Mr Lamplight (can’t remember his name) turned out to be a sneaky cultist with a dodgy ‘truth telling lamp’. Are they really about to rely on some random dude who just popped up in a high-stakes showdown?

You mean the guy who was one of their first recruits when they formed the guild? (First appearance, chapter 24, page 26, from July of last year…won’t link since last time I tried to link to a page, it disappeared into the aether.)

The women are in the other aisle. They thought Bandit and E-Merl were getting married and didn’t know how else to group since they weren’t related to either of them.

Actually, I think I figured out how he could do it. If in between the 2nd and 3rd panels he does a 180 to face the fountain, stretches out his left arm toward Bandit, and then rotates the wrist clockwise, it should work.

“Innocent citizens have nothing to fear from the police”.
Nothing strikes more terror into the hearts of said citizens.
