“You insult me, chicken man? i am but only three score old! Beware – I have eaten beings greater than you for dinner!”
“But Madam Arfa – that’s 420 in dog years! And eat me at your peril. I’m full of chicken bones – deadly to canines.”
I feel like we have this discussion every few months or so.
Gnolls typically are portrayed as hyena based, especially in D&D inspired universes. However, in many others, they’re portrayed as wolf-like.
The gnolls in this comic seem to be amalgamations of the two. Many seem to have both hyena and canine qualities combined, and allusions to both are made by characters in the strip.
No, Gondy is definitely a guy. Birdfolk have similar silhouettes to other humanoids, he’s been referred to as ‘he’, repeatedly, and he and Harky have been officially (though not in-universe) referred to as a same-gender couple.
He did say something about it, now that you mention it…though with the site working as ‘well’ as it is lately finding exactly what is outside my tolerable frustration zone, ATM.
He said something about it because he saw (as we did) a brief moment of deep emotional intimacy pass between the two… and on this point I share your annoyance with the response time of the tag search engine.
Does anyone else find it odd that she is taking advice from a vision that took the form of her people’s worst enemy. Even if it’s not actually Karmakat it doesn’t seem like anything that chose to take his form would have the best interests of her or her people in mind.
If it had been a bit more obtuse in it’s words it might have just been some gloating that let slip a bit of extra information. But it basically straight up told her to find the Winter Elves or her people would die.
Consider that Karmakat was a ‘good guy’ (I believe?)- if the Gnolls are the last of the Fuzzy Peoples, however that happened… I don’t imagine that a champion of anthroforms would want anthroforms to die out completely, even if the only ones left were his enemies- especially if he’s a ‘good guy’.
It may also be that, in the lexicon of Gnollish vision archetypes, Karmakat just represents doom or something. So she may believe that these are instructions that aren’t actually coming from Karmakat.
That’s how I interpreted it. Karmakat’s appearance was a showing that doom is coming, but the vision re-identifies itself as “just Karma” indicating that the words spoken are not from her old enemy.
OH MY GOD I’VE BEEN READING FOR DAYS AND I HIT THE BUFFER!
I know i’ve scattered a comment like this among all of my favorite artists pages somewhere, but I always feel like I have to make it known how much i appreciate all of the material you’ve made, and everything you’ve given to the fans! Excited for updates!
Speaking of which, this is Friday’s strip, now it’s Monday. Don’t see any announcement why the strip could be late, it’s usually up when I get up in the morning in Europe.
of course, the vision fails to tell them that the peacemakers aren’t really a threat to the savage races since they separated from Gastonia, as long as the savage races aren’t threatening the peacemakers
“Besides, Arfa is clearly dropping some cool shit, and I wanna try some.”
I think Harky would be better off not partaking of Arfa’s droppings.
But he’s gotta smoke dat shit.

Hyenas aren’t canines. :| Don’t you dare associate such cute and friendly creatures with dogs.
Yeah, they’re not even caniforms. They’re feliforms, closely related to civets and mongooses.
Any relation to cenobites?

And don’t forget the Grassy Gnoll…
Yes he is, alt text. Yes he is…
The Winter Elves probably knows all kinds of shit about keeping warm and how to save on your heating bills.
But do they know how to save 15% on their portal insurance?
We implicitly do know who’s the real life player behind Penk, right? Right?!
Implicitly, its Shanna’s new friend Xan Tyler.
Explicitly, no.
It has been inferred by the audience that this is so.
T and I have implied nothing. Winky face.
Where has that been inferred?
It’s obvious, they have the same haircut.
Well, they are both in fur, so it can be obviously inferred.
The last person to insult her wound up as her hat.
I think chicken-man is actually chicken-woman…of course, it’s hard to tell with some birds.

Didn’t the Savosi warlord intimate it at one point?

“Besides she might give me the #1 Contendership for the title if we do what she says!”
As a head’s up, I’ve had to turn my Adblock back on for this site due to autoplaying video ads.
Brace yourselves, Winter Elves are coming.
Sorry, it had to be done.
*Brace yourselves, Winter Elves, we are coming.
I wonder if Penk was always this perceptive, or if it’s an effect of the fireseye.

Needed to agree with you. I’m an avid fan and just recent upgraded my snail modem to a newer and am completely satisfied. More, please?
Come back Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Speaking of which, this is Friday’s strip, now it’s Monday. Don’t see any announcement why the strip could be late, it’s usually up when I get up in the morning in Europe.
This Monday is a holiday here in the States (Memorial Day) so I’m willing to cut them a little slack. Hopefully it’ll be up later today.
Ah ok, wasn’t aware of that.
of course, the vision fails to tell them that the peacemakers aren’t really a threat to the savage races since they separated from Gastonia, as long as the savage races aren’t threatening the peacemakers
tl;dr: PROPHECY FUCKS EVERYTHING UP ONCE AGAIN
