Deepest apologies for the delay, everyone! I had this uploaded, but not uploaded correctly? I cannot explain it, except it was memorial day and I was no where near an object that produces work.
There was also a brief outage with the site yesterday. Could have been a reset involved. Either way, here you go!
Okay, I forgive you… this time! But never be late again. I demand my free entertainment on schedule!!!
So I got an answer. The server was, in fact, being worked on yesterday. I believe the regularly scheduled update got skipped or undone in the process.
That doesn’t change that I didn’t arse myself to check on it, but hey: I had every reason to believe everything was proceeding normally!
This site and DoA both seem to be working well, for the first time in a while, which I can’t imagine was a coincidence…so I think a late update is a worthy tradeoff for that!
I scoff at your weak excuse for a late update! For your failure to provide free entertainment I will have my revenge! I will do this by… uh… not reading your comic anymore… no, that doesn’t work… um… saying mean things about you forever in comments? No, that would just be dumb because you don’t deserve it… err. This is hard.
So my problem here is internet forgiveness is the path to heresy and treason but I’m having a hard time mustering cleansing hate. Can you help me out a little somehow? Maybe do something really horrible so I can get a proper rage-boner going like kick a puppy? I mean this whole “minor glitch followed by apology and taking ownership” thing you have going is really messing up how I thought the internets should work.
Not sure what the apologies for lateness are all about. Who even cares if a page is a few hours or a day or a week late? That is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Nightmares can be (bowel) moving experiences. Just one of the miseries of which Arfa speaks.
Looks like Penk caught a whiff of both past and possible future miseries.
Geez, it’s almost like she’s foreshadowing something regarding the war between the Champions and the Peacekeepers.
I can’t help but wonder if the real reason Penk doesn’t want HAMMERHEAD coming along has less to do with defending the camp and more to do with him not trusting the landshark anymore. If that’s case, he was sure able to pull those other reasons rather quickly.
My feeling is both those things are true. He can’t be trusted to handle anything that might require subtlety, and they can’t leave the camp undefended.
The argument that he’s needed to defend the camp is ridiculous. They have an army.
Yeah, and he is a force multiplier/ army unto himself. Besides, Harky doesn’t really seem to buy it. I feel like he is letting Penk make this decision, whether or not he agrees. After all, Penk is a rising star but still has lots of room to grow and learn, and what better way then to make decisions and deal with the fallout from them? Especially if the negative results force him to get out of his comfort zone and stretch his leadership muscles? Just my two (insert your lowest local currency here).
TLDR: Learning experience for Penk.
From the Alt-Txt, I think it’s a lot more about Penk not trusting the landshark.
HAMMERHEAD made it quite clear in the aftermath of the green beast attack that he will never submit to Penk’s authority. There is no “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, there is only more enemies. And he may not have been joking all these times he said “I’ll eat you last”.
As for the reasons Penk is giving for HAMMERHEAD to stay behind, come on. It may work for a lowly NPC, but when has climate and geography stopped an adventurer? And it’s not as if Harky doesn’t have a whole army to do the guarding.
Penk is splitting the party, for Pete’s sake. I believe he is smart and savvy enough to know it’s.not.done. Unless the one left behind doesn’t belong to the party anymore.
Penk sounds like a young squad officer who doesn’t want to bring Crazy “HAMMER” Ivan on a recon mission and had to find quickly a reason to convince the big brass.
Or like a veteran MMORPG who doesn’t want Leroi J. on board. Again.
tl;dr: HAMMERHEAD has been demoted to NPC status. For now.

I agree with you, Harky doesn’t buy it for a minute, but he’s letting Penk make the decision and live with it when it all goes to hell. HH is not a soldier or even an adventurer, he’s a freaking force of nature, a tsunami condensed into land shark form (a sharknado, perhaps?). Penk is cutting his losses re: HH, since taking him along would likely end up with it raining sky elf corpses/HH getting magically nuked. ‘Sides, HH will be back, I have no doubt. Also, I may be rambling here since I had zero sleep last night. Yay!
TL,DR: I need sleep.
Basically, Hammerhead is the Champions’ equivalent to Byron, the guy who can be either an extremely powerful asset or a rocks-fall-everybody-dies-level liability.
Penk wants to see if it is possible to make peace with the Peacemakers and having Hammerhead around would jeopardize that. Penk had to come up with other reasons because Harky refuses to make peace.
Madame Arfa is scaring me more now as an old woman frightened by the future and the past than when she was just a mean old lady.
She scares me more as a fangirl. :P
How do they even have a general idea of where the winter elves are?
Same as Frodo knowing where to find Mount Doom.
