And yet blithely ignoring that very point as well. He’s dismissing the adventurers/our heroes as being down and out and completely unable to affect his plans. He could really only be sure of that if they were all truly wiped out and he saw it with his own eyes. But the last time he tangled with them, he retreated, remember?
Yes, I suppose we could argue about the merits of spending time and resources doing that versus simply forwarding his plans for an apotheosis, but you can be sure Byron, Gravy, Syr’nj, Frigg, etc. are still going to try to throw a monkey wrench into things- and may even succeed at it.
Yeah, case in point he considers them simply as a tool he’s done using. He’s ignoring the whole reason he got so invested in taking them down to begin with, the fact that they were able to delay his plans.
I mean, dumby HR still thinks they are down one member they aren’t! Guy clearly will never get over being full of himself.
Agree, while his enemies are alive they are a threat. They may be weakened, spread to the four winds and demoralized but that can and often does change with enough time.
I can see why HR counts out Byron despite the fact he came back already. In the system, he designed Gravedust shouldn’t be able to restore Byron. Then again some rules are made to be broken.
But which plans have they been ruining? Mainly his plans to kill them. I haven’t looked at the Evil Overlord List in a while, but it’s got to have something about not becoming so focused on defeating the heroes that you forget to pursue your evil goals.
Ulak’s not about to pass up a rare opportunity for a sidepiece sidequest, given how depressingly small the insanity-doomsday cult/swingers scene overlap in Arkerra is.
In Dungeons & Dragons Online, one of the recurring big bads you fight including at least two raids is Arraetrikos whom players have affectionately referred to as “Harry”.
And with righteous power and a wave of his hand, the one true god HR striketh down the coming tide of Rule 34 into noncanonicityand preserveth his faithful servant’s virtue.
or he just torpedoed Ulak’s plans for a key party.
pretty much. Just setting himself up for failure. Though not attacking the peacemakers anymore is probably a good move. Normally I’d say otherwise, but he all ready tried to “do it himself”.
Whole lotta hubris goin’ on. Although I have to wonder how much of HR himself is in his statement that he’s “not enough” and how much is the Arkerran universe acting through him somehow without him being fully aware of it.
Hrrrmn. So he had to come in his own form to arrive “with his mind intact”. I wonder if that’s a hint of what happened to the Five – the reason they don’t remember their SepiaWorld selves is because they entered Arkerra as new characters, while if they’d entered as themselves that would have provided more of an anchor to remember their original lives?
Which could, in turn, mean that once HR has done everything he needs to do as HR, he might change himself in order to leave his old self behind entirely…
According to Wikipedia:
Ramiel is a fallen Watcher, which was an angel sent to watch over humanity, from the Book of Enoch. As an angel, Ramiel watched over those who were to resurrect. In Hebrew, “Ramiel” roughly means “Thunder of God”.
Does anyone else wonder if homunculus HR and sepia-world HR are diverging? Sepia-world HR at least had the pretense of saving the 5, plus he ordered 2 more tubes..which means he planned to go in himself at one point. Methinks mini-HR is going native. And crazy.
What an eerie and foreboding personality to have to work with. And yet he’s totally chill in the workplace environment of his choosing. Ironic that his name is H.R.
Hoo boy, what’s HR gonna do now?
Not fuck ’em, apparently.
Much to the disappointment of us all, I’m certain.
You win the comment/avatar combination forever
His porn ‘stache lied to us.
Prediction: Panel One will ultimately launch a thousand alt-universe fanfics.
They needed a sacrifice to open the gate last time. Sounds like HR’s decided to use himself for this one.
Nah, he’s just going to assume his final form. Obv.
Someone remembered a few parts of the Evil Overlord List. Not all of them but the ego aspect at least.
And yet blithely ignoring that very point as well. He’s dismissing the adventurers/our heroes as being down and out and completely unable to affect his plans. Panel 2 Ulak is considering the prospect of fuckin’ regardless of HR’s clarification.
Ulak’s not about to pass up a rare opportunity for a sidepiece sidequest, given how depressingly small the insanity-doomsday cult/swingers scene overlap in Arkerra is.
He didn’t ask HR to clarify because he was hesitant to take the task; Quite the opposite indeed.
“Do…Are you ordering me to literally fuck them, Boss?”
“No, don’t be silly; we can’t be too predictable, and we just ended a plan that revolved around Frigg.”
Get over… THEMSELVES? Wouldn’t THAT be something?
Harold Ramiel (Ramiel?!) Dedalus is dead.(or ded.) – No need for him.
Long Live MEGASTACHE, the Lavender-Eyed Omnipotent One!
All facial hair is but a shadow of the one true MEGASTACHE.
And when the God of Creation finally shed his human form, only the megastache remained.
Ramiel is one of the named fallen angels. This seems significant, especially since in some works, he’s associated with visions.
But which fallen angel is associated with a megastache?
Fallicle
*Follicel
(‘Cause angels names tend to end in “el”? And it would be pronounced the same way? And… I’ll see myself out. :P )
Am I the only one getting hung up on the fact that the big bad is named Harry?
In Dungeons & Dragons Online, one of the recurring big bads you fight including at least two raids is Arraetrikos whom players have affectionately referred to as “Harry”.
Actually, he’s named Hal. (Or HR, or Harold…Harry is about the only form of the name not attested in the text. :p)
Ah, I forgot about that. Though HAL isn’t much better.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that, Ulak.”
All will tremble before the power of the ‘stache.
And with righteous power and a wave of his hand, the one true god HR striketh down the coming tide of Rule 34 into noncanonicityand preserveth his faithful servant’s virtue.

You know he is evil overlordy when he starts talking to out loud himself.
Basically, “this is not even my Final Form”.

When you screw up in this company and get sent to HR it’s even worse than at most other employers.
Clothed in the ground or naked in a tube.
We give you options at least.
Yikes!
Que errant janitor tripping over server power cable.
Oops…

Well that’s radical.
Harold Ramis Dedalus?
That was my first thought, too.
— Sir, are you saying “do” or “duel”?
— DEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU(L?), douchebag!
Does anyone else wonder if homunculus HR and sepia-world HR are diverging? Sepia-world HR at least had the pretense of saving the 5, plus he ordered 2 more tubes..which means he planned to go in himself at one point. Methinks mini-HR is going native. And crazy.
He did go in. Perhaps you missed those pages: chapter 38, pages 2 through 4.
I was under the impression that he was going to “save” the five once he got full control of existence.
What an eerie and foreboding personality to have to work with. And yet he’s totally chill in the workplace environment of his choosing. Ironic that his name is H.R.
So much crazy so little time.
And a perfect gravatar to go with it.
