I expect in John Wick the exception is because the death of John’s dog prompts him to go on a vengeance fueled killing spree, so that would probably make them feel vindicated.

So reading the above comments, people have noticed that Harky is attacking pent’s teeth. I think it’s less about his teeth and more about aiming for his chin and nose. Like aside from the stab in the heart (which trolls have taken before and been perfectly okay), all the hits Pent has taken are all quick knockout attacks. What are your thoughts.
That last panel is Harky losing a tooth (specifically, the remaining half of his lower left canine-tusk) to Penk’s fist. That’s what everyone’s going on about.
Well being Trolls and one being blessed, their regen probably totally offsets their gentle fondling, so a knock it with a crit is probably the only way to end their little play date.
I mean you could just regenerate head trauma no?
Just all things considered, a heart stab wouldn’t kill you. But maybe repetition is the name of the game.
Maybe he wants to use this as a teaching moment, but still have Penk win in the end? Or maybe he’s just left hand dominant and is punching with that hand out of reflex?
I can’t help but see this as an escalated fight with a Stonewall-era gay man, who had to leave home after coming out, endure daily harassment and threat and often violence to find and keep the relationship that was so hard won, versus a younger, idealistic Millennial gay man who came out to a supportive family and friends, and was cheered by his community when he took his boyfriend to prom, and holds on to those “childish” ideals because they haven’t been beaten out of him yet, and shouldn’t be either. One side has been driven and conditioned to see that violence is the only way to preserve what was so hard won, the other side is only beginning to see the violence that was a daily fact of life for so many of his community before his time, but knows opening up and cooperation is the way forward, even if you risk getting burned.
Granted, for this metaphor to truly fit, Penk would have to be gay too, but no metaphor’s perfect. :)
If Harky lives through this, we’re going to see if goblin dental prosthetics are as inventive as goblin hand prosthetics. That, or he’s going to be learning the joys of soup.

Gravedust was the only Peacemaker who was absent from the peace negotiations with deathmatch against Harky, so this is probably the first time they meet. He’s also the only Peacemaker belonging to a race that’s allied with the trolls. And he just made a really good impression on Harky (and a really painful impression on Iver).
Technically, the Savasi didn’t dump Gravedust in the Death Arena when Harky fought the Peacekeepers, so it’s reasonable he might know who is he from that and other chance meetings the group later had with him.
But as you mention, he made a good impression in this situation (taking Iver down a peg or twelve as he was planning a coup definitely helps).

By traditional rules, yeah, D&D Trolls are pretty broken for having both a high regen and damage resistance.
Fire and acid work just fine… Now fire giants? Or just Ogre mages? *shudder* Tag team of Ogre mage and druid… Plenty of things worse than trolls.
The fact that everyone knows what Trolls are weak to should be a balancing factor in and of itself.

even if penk is straight as a laser it is still a good metaphor since part of metaphors is that they aren’t usually literal
Penk is just as into interspecies relations as Harky is, so the metaphor still works.
