Iris Black is a self-proclaimed inventor with the curious ability to bring his drawings to life, and yearns to find a space where he can use his powers freely.
Yes, didn’t saw him at first too.
But where is Brock? The one next to Isidro or the one with a gun?
And isn’t the gnome in the last panel Keeper Kepfer? If yes, why isn’t he taged
Yep. Doesn’t look like a man willing to be “brought in” to anywhere. Not in one piece, at least… provided you can tell which ones of all the pieces will be his.
I’m not catching whatever the pun is that the alt-text refers to. There’s the clockwork metaphor, but even after several readings, I’m not seeing any puns. Is it just me?
My question is, why would the gnomes even strike ? They had already evacuated, attacking now seems more like it’s just giving the humans a reason to go after them,nd is apparently risking important community members. Seems like an unnecessary risk to me. Guess we’ll see how it plays out.
Exactly my thought. Any plan that involves you planning to get captured in a battle is very high-risk, for limited reward – up until then, they had easy access to “Gastonia HQ” thanks to the Dean, so what would getting captured yield them?
Keeping enough people down there as bait for everybody to pile in so they can torch the whole thing, meaning they win or die and still win, that might do something.
These are the people sent to capture them, if they don’t come back, maybe the next people don’t look so hard.
so why are their even gnomes here? if they wanted to kill the soldiers they could have just set the machine oil on fire and let them burn, all they are doing is risking themselves with this tactic.
Aaaah Guys! Strike and fade! Strike and fade! Use Guerilla tactics! I’m freaking out because while Machine oil is lovely and slippery it’s also FLAMMABLE. Adriac is giving me conniption fits here with his sparkly sword beams.
Oh wow, I hadn’t even noticed Isidro there at first. Thanks Cast Tags!

He’s a big man in the community.
Ardaic, prepare for iGnome-inious defeat! Serves you right for entering Gnome-man’s land.
:keysmashing in hope of finding an upvote button!:
Now, that’s gnome way to behave.
Uhhhhhh…is it just me or is that gnome I assume he means in the last panel cradling a bundle of…something…I have a bad feeling about this.
Don’t drop the baby.
Yep. Doesn’t look like a man willing to be “brought in” to anywhere. Not in one piece, at least… provided you can tell which ones of all the pieces will be his.
Truly these are the gears of war.
Cry havoc, and let slip the cogs of war!
Excellent!
The Department of Gnomeland Security may not be the best funded agency, but it gets the job done.
Ooh, well done.
I’m not catching whatever the pun is that the alt-text refers to. There’s the clockwork metaphor, but even after several readings, I’m not seeing any puns. Is it just me?
Not everything has to be a pun, you gnome.
Oh, god bandit!
Come on, you gnome better.
“…when you throw something into the gears.” as he spears a gnome soldier.
That’s a continuation of the metaphor, some colorful speech, but not a pun.
“Deliver his point” spears have points
Jarvis is ja-villan nobody’s gnomes and you don’t see the point?
My question is, why would the gnomes even strike ? They had already evacuated, attacking now seems more like it’s just giving the humans a reason to go after them,nd is apparently risking important community members. Seems like an unnecessary risk to me. Guess we’ll see how it plays out.
*clears throat*
IT’S A TRAP
Exactly my thought. Any plan that involves you planning to get captured in a battle is very high-risk, for limited reward – up until then, they had easy access to “Gastonia HQ” thanks to the Dean, so what would getting captured yield them?
Getting captured yields them nothing.
Keeping enough people down there as bait for everybody to pile in so they can torch the whole thing, meaning they win or die and still win, that might do something.
These are the people sent to capture them, if they don’t come back, maybe the next people don’t look so hard.

Perchance they hope to return? A fire down there will burn everything.
They are GNOMES. They will rebuild it…with IMPROVEMENTS.
Aaaah Guys! Strike and fade! Strike and fade! Use Guerilla tactics! I’m freaking out because while Machine oil is lovely and slippery it’s also FLAMMABLE. Adriac is giving me conniption fits here with his sparkly sword beams.
Don’t worry. Sparkly spear-shit doesn’t do shock or burn damage.
Unless he knocks something really flammable over.
Since he’s standing in the oil, I doubt he’d use his powers if he felt there was any chance of them igniting the oil.
Then again, the gnomes are using muskets.
