Gondolessa’d make a tragically beautiful gravatar. (Also tragic is how few chances we’d have to get him.)

I wouldn’t mind a chance to get Madam Arfa or PatchGnoll beside posts either.

came for this, was not proven wrong. If Penk thinks it’s going to be that easy, after what he (however necessarily) did, he’s got another beat coming.
Then again, he’s idealistic, not stupid, this oughtta be interesting.

I mean, Don Gobligo seems like the type at the very least. Not sure what he would hope to gain from it though. Also I was shocked to see that his name isn’t spelled Goblingo.

I don’t know… I think Gondolessa realizes that Harky persisted on being killed. And that it was the price he paid for letting Penk decide the way – which is ending the war.

That might be her replacement. We know from the winter elves that she is soon to die. Perhaps she has a hunch she’s going to die soon too (she does see visions).

He might be there to make sure the transition between gnoll alphas is as seemless as possible.

      It’s Wolf O’Donnell.

Actually, as we’ve seen and talked about numerous times, the gnolls in this comic seem to be a widely diverse mix of canine and hyena, with some leaning more towards one end or the other, and some being a mix in-between. This is almost certainly the new alpha Weo mentioned.

I’ve been wondering how it’s going to be with Gondolessa. Still the representative of the Avian arm of the World’s rebellion, and how he’ll deal with being expected to follow and advise the man who killed his oldest friend, the leader he swore to follow, and his lover, to boot.

I think that whatever he does, he’ll do it with dignity. If he feels that he can’t work with Penk, he will probably step down and find a successor.

I feel like Gondolessa will actually be the one who might end up overall most complaint. Now don’t get me wrong, Penk and him, I don’t think they will ever be friends. But Gondolessa is:

      A. Smart enough to know why Harky did this all the way he did. If he died, he wanted his people to stay unified and follow Penk. He set up everything this way and Gondolessa was there for the conversation with Penk.

and B. He probably directly told Gondolessa as much anyway. Gondolessa and Harky exchanged words before everybody went to the arena. Harky was not ignorant of the very real possibility he’d lose, I’m sure the conversation addressed that.

The fact of the matter is messing with Penk, at least at this point, would be spitting on everything he knew Harky wanted if this came to pass, and I don’t think he’s the type to not care out of pure spite, not when he has that responsibility to his own people to think about. He might never forgive Penk but he’ll never forgive himself if he did that to the man he loved. Though Penk should assume they have a business relationship now and he should never expect a pleasant conversation with the man ever again. Putting your anger aside doesn’t mean your anger abates.

Seconded. Gondolessa is the sort who’d respect Harky’s decisions. They had a conversation where Gondolessa showed that he know that this high risk war chief thing was a part of the deal.

Harky chose his death. He didn’t die for no reason – he wanted to make damned sure that Penk would not hesitate to put mercy aside if the situation demanded it.

Forcing Penk to kill him was his final gift to his protege. If Penk could kill the mentor he loved, he won’t be held back by any possible betrayal in the future, either.

Gondolessa was there for Harky’s final hours. He knows how he thinks. He knows how strongly Penk and Harky respected each other. He might have a rough time of things emotionally, but there’s no way he blames or resents Penk for this.

He also had no love for Harky whatever. They viewed each other as necessary tools to advance each other’s agendas. And Harky publicly beat and humiliated him once.

Remember that the Don stands to profit from the new arrangement. Goblaurence is already pushing this new alliance towards forging a trade partnership with the sky elves. From the Don’s perspective, this new alliance looks like it could bring less costly war, more allies, and a ton of cash than what Harky had planned.

I don’t think he’s enjoying Harky’s death, specifically. He didn’t like the guy, and definitely resented being beaten by him, but he didn’t seem to HATE him. If he did, I imagine he would’ve been involved with Iver’s little failed coup. He does, however, probably really like the idea of what this new arrangement means for him.
