Ah, the classic “left out a small detail in the explanation” trick (the small details here are that the trolls are in fact eating everybody, not just the humans, and that tiny purple hole in the world). Never fails to cause more problems.
Jeez, he already was the God-of-the-World when the game first came online. So he decided to “merge” with in-game creations fore even *more* power? How greedy can a guy get?
As long as it involves killing/maiming/mistreating the “correct” group of people, that’s EXACTLY how something like this would be spun in the media today.
Of course, if it’s exactly the same thing but against the “wrong” group of people, it’s barbaric and evil.

The assortment of media outlets aren’t solely to blame for that, nor are they the sole source of it. Our consumption of the product created by using those techniques both endorses the tactic and viewpoint as well as incentivises them to create more, ’cause operating costs/profit.
That’s also besides the point that people do it on their own time using information they gain firsthand.
What do you mean “today?” Tribalism has been present in mainstream storytelling forever. Look at any culture’s “great stories,” try considering what they must have looked like from the other side’s point of view, and most heroic narratives are brutal tragedies. (Not all, mind you, sometimes the losers in history were objectively gross, but most.)
In rpg terms I believe this is called a buffet.

That battle will probably take a while because it’ll be intercut with sepia world.
Also though, we were told there would be two more chapters, so that gives us an HR battle chapter and a wrapping up chapter.
