Great way to kill Taro without actually getting your hands dirty.
And in all the time Carol had to fortify Hurricane HQ I don’t know why she didn’t put up some kind of communication barrier just in case someone reached the subbasement and recorded all this. It still might come to nothing if the players signed their lives away with those contracts. Bad PR, but nothing illegal. Of course for Xan and Shanna breaking and entering and taking Carol hostage would be bad for them.
Yes well, I’ve noticed a lot more plot holes and not-really-quite-holes-but-sorta-noticeable-fraying as they’re speeding up to the conclusion of the comic. They’re aiming for a quick resolution.
Even signing away their lives, keeping them secret after there was opened a “missing persons” case is not positive.
And Carol sending a hitman (which they can prove) deos make her look a bit guilty.
This was what I was about to comment too. At least in Finland if even one parameter in the contract is illegal (something you are not allowed to put under a contract, like for example signing of your life [euthanasia is illegal in Finland]) the whole contract would be void.
Once the contract has been deemed void, everything that you have done will be put through spotlight in terms of law.
In this case, you can already sign your whole HR damned firm to bankruptcy.
Ok, now I’m kind of reading panel 2 – with the zerkers prancing on the tank around a little boy in a white outfit – as a kind of “Where the Wild Things Are” cover art gone wrong.
I actually learned about that on the 11th grade, when doing a digital signal processing project as part of high school physics.
you pick up a lot of tangential stuff in a lot of subjects, it’s not unreasonable that one of his assignments had to do with EEG.
Unless he’s got a doctorate in Flawless VR Gamer EEG Visual Pattern Recognition, it’s patently ridiculous for him to make that categorical statement based on a cursory glance. But hey, the plot’s finally unwinding, let’s not sweat the small stuff.
Say, Arkerra looks kinda of sepia-tinted in the light of the zerkers, and Chrissie’s hearing thunder, and the recent mixed-world strips… will the two worlds collide?
No, that seems pretty ominous. Important enough to be included, and that sure looks like a clear starry sky above them in the last panel… no storm clouds.
Maybe!! I mean, HR was able to get in with magicky stuff… or something. So maybe getting out will require more of the same, and then worlds will collide.
No puns for Taro going from the frying pan into the fire?
The zerkers are just gonna inTarogate him.
Sundar’s oversight brought about this man’s laughter.
I feel a little bad about leaving Taro to get Nommed by Chaos Zombies but maybe He’ll get blown up before he gets ripped to shreds.

Well, the workers might have noticed the tubes full of people.
At least one did. He’s… no longer available to make a statement about it, though.
There are limits to what you can sign away with a contract. Well there are laws here and the US is the US but I assume you have at least some limits.
Yes. Inalienable rights are inalienable.

where’s bandit?
oh i see her now
…Where in data visualization training do they teach you about normal brain patterns for healthy and comatose subjects?
I actually learned about that on the 11th grade, when doing a digital signal processing project as part of high school physics.

Could just be a weekend spent on the internet after seeing something on a TV show EEG.
And we don’t really know anything about Xan’s background. He clearly has a lot going on, in many different directions.

“They’re awake. You probably could’ve pulled them out at any time and they would’ve been fine.”
“Did you ever consider trying this cliché big red button that saws ‘Subject Release Sequence, DO NOT TOUCH’?”
Taro + Zerkdemons? Oh no!
Well, actually, that would probably make his more rational and likeable.
The nearby explosion would do so for the both of them.
Say, Arkerra looks kinda of sepia-tinted in the light of the zerkers, and Chrissie’s hearing thunder, and the recent mixed-world strips… will the two worlds collide?
“Now this is what it’s like.”
– Powerman 5000
I think more than two worlds (incuding, Arkerra and the sepia world, obviously) will be bound and ravaged.
Worlds will collide. Literally, it seems like.
Am I the only one worried about the foreshadowing with the thunder??
No, that seems pretty ominous. Important enough to be included, and that sure looks like a clear starry sky above them in the last panel… no storm clouds.
Ya thing that magitech core is powerful enough to open a hole to sepia world?

So the players aren’t just playing the game, they are powering it.
They aren’t just plugged it to the server, they ARE the server.
Now coming to a bookstore near you: To server Man.
It’s a DIY guide!
5 dungeon masters!
“Well…shall we eat this guy?” “Nope. Can’t abide spoiled brats.”
“are you kidding them’s the bestest kinds. Has that nice tangy vinegary taste to it”
