But OMG Erica, you’re caught copying & pasting… which you reviled only two pages back! :-O
I’ll give you that it splendidly serves the purpose of making fun of Gravedust’s face, though. Good job!
You’re high, son. Looks more like “inking” over the same “pencils” twice, which is not the same thing.
I hate all animated banner ads on principal, but those last five panels could be made into one that would definitely make me reconsider. It’s good that people in-universe have started noticing Gravedust’s nigh infinite potential as a straightman, although he could probably kill just as well with a Stephen Wright routine as with a bow.
Sorry sir, but I must insist! As a half-potent artist I have a good eye for that kind of thing, and apart from color, the eye and a few extra lines, the inking is the same in panels 4 and 6. I did check by overlapping them in Photoshop before making my claim, too, and it’s a perfect match. Erica is very talented but no amount of skill allows to ink twice *exactly* the same way! :-O
Again, I was not trying to blame or shame here; I think this little trick perfectly illustrates how Gravedust “Leonard Nimoy” can lift an eyebrow without moving any other facial muscle.
I just couldn’t pass the irony of it… ;-)
Well, in this case it was done on purpose so that he would be exactly the same since Gravedust really only has the one facial expression (except for the eyebrow).
There is actually a now long deleted version of panel six that is not as funny because it was an attempt to make a close copy, but nothing’s closer than an actual copy.
Also, the thing about copying and pasting was a friendly jab at a friend of mine who will not be named but he knows who he is.
A half- potent artist? Really? You should stop lickin’ your paintbrushes, man. The lead in those paints’ll screw anyone up.
(Also you are probably a fully competent artist, I’m guessing by avatar).
i’m with erica on this one…this is the one circumstance where it works better than redrawing. re-inking, especially with a style as fluid as erica’s runs the risk of changing his position slightly- ruining the comedy. any change at all gives him some motion- which is not what we want here.
(i actually think it would have played out even better with the whole panel repeated, the eyebrow raise moves his face too much.)
Very hard to copy and paste coming out with a different picture the second time. Erica’s computer did not, on it’s own, decide to lift Dusty’s right eyebrow like that.
At this point she’s explained it all, but come on.. Attention to detail.
The “George Carlin” rant is a great idea. As an alternative, given Gravedust’s mystical nature and ability to commune with spirits and such, I could see him doing a Bill Hicks rant about how “The Man” shouldn’t bar folks from expanding their consciousness, if you know what I mean.
Even more fun fact: even with modern day spots and floods you can see faces from the stage if you are placed correctly (as the elf comedian is). Having done several vocal performances of art music, I have been able to clearly see the faces of most of the first fifteen rows of the audience. I imagine the hall they are in isn’t THAT huge.
Also, this theater experience seems to be loosely based on the play houses and opera houses of the 1600s or so, which were much more, ah, “cozy” than the later, opulent and enormous music halls of, say, Mozart’s time.

“Merp.”
Cute.
It’s official, Bandit is the cutest character ever.
Agreed :)
That outfit certainly helps.
Man you guys how about that airline food?
I never noticed before, but Bandit makes some seriously cute lil’ expressions.
He does have a George Carlin look
Seconded!
Bandit’s so goddamn adorable in 5th panel <3 I heart!
Panel 5 bandit is adoraaaable. Also, panel 7.

CUTEST FACE EVAR!!! <3<3<3 I love you Bandit. <3
The Bandit Fan Club grows by the day.
And at all other times.
Yeah, I went there.
I’m sure that when it comes to the bandit fanboy club, membership ain’t the only thing growing. :P
giggity.
ADOOOORRRAAABLLLLEEEEE
or loli?
hmmm….
Yeah, panel 7 is pretty adorable.
My god, PLEASE tell me Dusty busts out some fucking Carlin-esque banter. The dwarf knows his fucking words.
Please let Dusty break into a funny speech beginning with the words “I’ll have you know…”
Dusty.
Up there.
In blackface.
Greenface. Do another elf routine.
No no, woodface.
I Merp-ed too! :-D
But OMG Erica, you’re caught copying & pasting… which you reviled only two pages back! :-O
I’ll give you that it splendidly serves the purpose of making fun of Gravedust’s face, though. Good job!
Hmm, I’m pretty sure there’s no copying and pasting going on there.
The lines are most definitely different.

Maybe it was a less than friendly jab, but rest assured that the insults are not one sided.
It’s all about the eye brow. His whole act could be just that eyebrow

It’s totally cool to copy paste when you want the panel to be exactly the same.
i’m with erica on this one…this is the one circumstance where it works better than redrawing. re-inking, especially with a style as fluid as erica’s runs the risk of changing his position slightly- ruining the comedy. any change at all gives him some motion- which is not what we want here.

It isn’t in the script, but the eyebrow raise, for me, is what drives Bandit over the edge.
i can dig that.

Well, most of us knew they would get on stage but I have no idea why I thought this would be an opera.
Meh, Monday’s Bandit was way cuter.
You mean last Friday’s. Monday was Byron and Syr’nj time.
Speaking of which, I like the way it’s going ‘Monday – Byron/Syr’nk, Wednesday – Frigg, Friday – Bandit/Dusty’
If Dust discusses “The Seven Words That You Can’t Say in Gastonia”, that will seriously make my week. :)
“Peace”,”Brotherhood”,”Racial Equality”,”Dwarf Rights”, and “Plumbing”.
That’s only six.
I know just what Bandit means. I’ve got a player in my D&D game who makes the BEST FACES. Breaks me up every time.
I also vote for a riff on Carlin’s Seven Words!
The “George Carlin” rant is a great idea. As an alternative, given Gravedust’s mystical nature and ability to commune with spirits and such, I could see him doing a Bill Hicks rant about how “The Man” shouldn’t bar folks from expanding their consciousness, if you know what I mean.
Words cannot express how adorable Bandit looks in the second mini-panel.
Yes they can. She looks adorable.
…
Merp.
Yes Bandit is adorable…really for me it’s the eyebrow that makes this episode. Continents have been conquered with such eyebrow lifting.
Mrs Kines, your behavior is highly illogical.
*Miss
Eh.
Oh HO! Someone’s doing a bit of planning for someone.
Honestly, that wouldn’t be the worst proposal I’ve ever heard either.
Bwahahahahahahahaha! Man, I loves me some Bandit.
Fun fact: You can’t see anything from a stage. Too many lights.
They didn’t really have flood lights back then.
They didn’t really have lights back then.
They didn’t really have….oh wait, you did the lights already. :(
You missed an epic opportunity to say that they had four lights
as in ‘four candles’?
They won’t even have limelights, with the torches and the lime and the whatnot?
Luxury! When I was a lad, all you got was a pair of mouldy candles and half a paper lampshade to make your illumination with.
what about magic lights? we’ve got elf performers…surely someone could rustle up some kind of lighting.
like tinkerbell on crack or something- behind a fesnel lens.
Even more fun fact: even with modern day spots and floods you can see faces from the stage if you are placed correctly (as the elf comedian is). There are stand up comedians who thrive almost entirely on interacting with their audience. I recommend Dara O’Brien for example of this.
So, what, Gravedust’s just gonna stand up there and stare disapprovingly at the audience?
“REPUGNANT! REPUGNANT!”
…this is the first comic page I’ve ever seen that’s made ENTIRELY of reaction images. I just realized.
Bandit Keynes cleans up right nice, doesn’t she?
As someone with no art talent, whose only chance to make a webcomic is to reuse images, this discussion hurts my feelings.
