“OK, so the repressed minorities have taken and held their own land…”
Yeah, that’s what I said when the Germans remilitarized the Rheinland. Not every “repressed minority” is deserving of sympathy. Some are repressed for a good reason, and minority status does not confer sanctity.
Gravedust: “this *particular* troll? how can you be particular? they all look the same to ME!” (pause for applause)
…
“sorry, they keep asking me back to the comedy club…”
Am I a weirdo for thinking the troll is kind of hot? I think I’ve been playing horde a little too long…
Also, poor Syr’nj looks so distressed in that last panel. She can’t be that upset with Byron for the throttling, though, considering how close she’s sitting to him.
Are you kidding me? Look at the mustache on what’s-his-mustachio’d-face. Splande? Whatever. That thing probably came here after the ’80s adult video thing ended. They couldn’t have hired a better mustache.
Oh, and another observation: if you look back through the archives to the “sneak peek” stuff, that troll there looks suspiciously like the orange-skinned one with two arrows stabbing his chest while grabbing Frigg’s mace.
And, in keeping with the romance between Byron/Syr’nj, she’s making a flower-necklace soon after this part of the story.
And then there’s a shadowy man… with what might be mistaken as a monocle.
Byron is completely gobsmacked by the idea of talking to trolls– everybody knows that trying to respond to trolls always ends in flames– and Syr’Nj is totally rockin’ “Nobody Knows The Troubles I’ve Seen” on the harmonica right there.
“Either they die, giving us an excuse to go to war, or they succeed, and we, and we, Oh, Deity, gimme a minnit.” (Crazed laughter) “Right. Or they succeed, and we move ahead according to Plan B.”
Plan B: Send out the Gnomish Engineering Corps to erect a bridge over the Troll camp. Since our government will be contracting this job with a minority owned concern, we’ll score political capital with the bleeding heart crowd and all without putting our own military assets at risk.
As for the Savasi … we’ll install a tavern at one end of the bridge. We can contract with the Trolls to operate the toll collection at the far end, thus funding the tavern’s operating expenses.
I knew a guy named unknown . Had a brother who went by anonymous, and had a sister called incognito. His father, John Doe, was married to a cute lass named unidentified.
It is not very clear, where are they heading to? Is he sending Gravedust back to his people and “the rest of you” to the trolls?
Concerning Ms Medical Instrument and Byron: it was magic after all, and an enlightened woman as Syr’nge could get over such a thing. If you were attacked by your friend under the effects of drugs combined with hypnosis, you wouldn’t blame him/her. Though I bet, you would dream back the moment countless times, when he/she raised a fist or grabbed your neck.
dark times indeed….
i have a theory that syr’s ears have a rabbit like quality they flop up and down with mood… just a guess
first comment jiggy
Ski? Now that you mention it, the sketch does remind me of the yeti from Ski Free.
Gravedust is taking the briefing family well considering the yuts is keeps referring to his home town as “enemy territory.”
I meant “fairly well”
*sigh* edit button please
I dunno is Splande is talking about them. I got the impression he’s talking about the Troll encampment.
OK, so the repressed minorities have taken and held their own land… Good Guy Team, get in there and get rid of them!
Um, wait..Let’s think about this…who exactly are the Bad Guys here?
Socio-potlical religiously-charged modern-day analogues are the Bad Guys, here.
Or possibly wood-elf celebrity chefs.
“OK, so the repressed minorities have taken and held their own land…”
Yeah, that’s what I said when the Germans remilitarized the Rheinland. Not every “repressed minority” is deserving of sympathy. Some are repressed for a good reason, and minority status does not confer sanctity.
You know we just saw that one “repressed minority” enslave another repressed minority a few pages ago. The Trolls are far from victims themselves.

There’s no comedy in this comic!
Really? Because I am lol-ing so hard at the politics.
Also, the alt-text counts as a part of the comic.
You’re free to take your comic reading elsewhere . . .
Just a note about the artwork: it has noticeably changed since the beginning, and not in a necessarily bad way. :D
I went and looked back at chapter 3, and the lines were much thinner, and the shading was much more gradual and noticeable.
Now the lines are thicker, the shading is kept to about 2 or 3 tones, and the textures are more noticeable.
Just a little observation. :D

hello meirnon. i was under the impression that all those sneak-peek’s occured around here: http://guildedage.net/webcomic/chapter-7/chapter-7-page-4/ and anything after that was new material. sneak peeks are not sneaky anymore.
sneak-peak would be the coolest name for a mountain.
Nope, there’s this one: The 2010 Preview page.
http://guildedage.net/webcomic/chapter-2/2010-preview/
And yes, I would totally climb the shit outta that and then not tell anyone.
I think that’s definitely the one on the sneak peek page–if you look closely, the tusks are even the same–one whole, one broken!
d’oh. completely forgot about that. my bad.
Byron is completely gobsmacked by the idea of talking to trolls– everybody knows that trying to respond to trolls always ends in flames– and Syr’Nj is totally rockin’ “Nobody Knows The Troubles I’ve Seen” on the harmonica right there.
“…Nobooody knooows, but Daghdaaa…”
Talk…to trolls.
Yeah, this is gonna end as planned >.>

And then we sit back and watch the taxes roll in.
Good work, sirs and/or mesdames.
Next week, the Elvish Question.
I want a mustache like that.
Those circles below the photo make it look like the troll has boobs.
Troll Women are NOTORIOUSLY well-endowed.
One might say they are Topographically Enhanced.
I knew a guy named unknown . Had a brother who went by anonymous, and had a sister called incognito. His father, John Doe, was married to a cute lass named unidentified.
Were they killed by a psychopath, called Nemo, by any chance?
It is not very clear, where are they heading to? Is he sending Gravedust back to his people and “the rest of you” to the trolls?
