it’s a good thing that the unelected sponges of gastonia pay servants to read for them, or gravedust might’ve been in more trou-ble. that diary could be quite a liability if the wrong people got ahold of it…and by the wrong people, i mean practically anyone.
you thought that was a beard? didn’t you know, desert-dwelling dwarves developed a gland just beneath their chins that stores water for times when they can’t get any.
Apologies to Joe and ChikenKannon up top there for three-peating their joke. When I read this morning I didn’t see those comments posted … just the stuff from Dean and Caltrop. Webbrowser fail?
Anyhow, I love the glare Gravedust is shooting Bandit in the last panel. It’s akin to “We’ll see how smug you are with a quill in the eye, brat.” He make’s the perfect grumpy old man.
Careful, Gravedust, or he’ll make you stand in the corner!
Gravedust’s beard is like a pillow. Who knew?
Maybe it’s actually just a giant marshmallow that got stuck to his face one day.
that’s no beard. that’s a gland similar to a camel’s hump. it stores water.
I think of it as more of a large dreadlock formed from years of neglect.
a dwarf doesn’t *neglect* his beard! thats like a dog neglecting his balls
“Would you like to read your note aloud to the whole class Mr.Gravedust?”
Ardaic’s gonna make him read it in front of the class.
Quick, hit him with a spitball infused with the restless dead!
That’s one way to get demoted.
Bandit’s look, in the last panel?
RAWR.
Oh yeah, she’s got an eye for gravedust
That’d be like dating her grandpa, though. Bleh.
And yet again, a childish midget. Who could’ve imagined it?
how could you tell off anyone named DesertHammer?
it’s a good thing that the unelected sponges of gastonia pay servants to read for them, or gravedust might’ve been in more trou-ble. that diary could be quite a liability if the wrong people got ahold of it…and by the wrong people, i mean practically anyone.
surprised to see gravedust say “erm”.
I’m surprised to see his eyes take a shape other than narrow and slanted without some truly surprising vantage.
I first read the ‘erm’ as ‘hrm’ for some reason. Then I couldn’t stop seeing Gravedust as Rorschach from Watchmen.
@ caltrop:
you thought that was a beard? didn’t you know, desert-dwelling dwarves developed a gland just beneath their chins that stores water for times when they can’t get any.
So what is Gravedust thinking in the last panel?
‘Hmm, lucky he didn’t see my Byron-Best slash fanfic on the other side’
‘…did I say that out loud?’
Pillowbeard was both the shortest and most fearsome land-pirate ever known.
Aww, he’s not getting off so badly at all. His journal could’ve been grabbed up and read out loud to the entire class.
Apologies to Joe and ChikenKannon up top there for three-peating their joke. When I read this morning I didn’t see those comments posted … just the stuff from Dean and Caltrop. Webbrowser fail?
Webadmin fail. Fixed now, though!
Gravedust: (whispering) “i’ll chastise your mom”
imperial twit: “excuse me? what was that?”
Gravedust: “um… nothing”
I love his expression as he looks at Bandit. So funny!
Sir Milord Pornstache MIGHT have asked him to read it aloud, but that would let someone else talk.
Somehow, Gravedust looks odd in panel #3. I think it’s the sudden lack of crinkles… is he becoming banditified?
gravedust’s beard=phil kahn’s in 50 years
More like two years.
I see no gray in there yet.
Wait until we’re three years into the comic. It will get there.
Soooo, gravedust = phil, bandit = erica, Syr’Ng = T ??
Based purely on physical appearances, pretty much.
Would put Erica closer to Frigg, but the others are spot on.
Haha. T’s a girl.
Now that wasn’t really mature Erica. Wow, you really are Frigg. :P
Holy crap, I just noticed the facial similarities. Damn, I must have lost my eye for detail… I wonder if that means that I can wear an eyepatch? Hm…
Heh, nice. From deep, introspective and wise to “schoolboy”.
“Right then, Deserthammer. Seeing as you’re so keen on my chastisement, you can stay behind after lessons and clap erasers. You too, Miss Keynes.”
Kids these days, do nothing but sit in class and write introspective journals.
It was really nice to meet 2/3s of the comic at Intervention.
Although you’re using a clever alias, I’m pretty sure it was nice to meet you too.
Being honest, I don’t know if I met you T, but I certainly did meet Phil.
And how.
Next time I’ll be less drunk.
Where’s the fun in that?
Believe me, I can be a lot more fun when I’m sober. That’s when I’m most willing to take risks.
Love the new buttons, guys! They’re purdy.
Anyhow, I love the glare Gravedust is shooting Bandit in the last panel. It’s akin to “We’ll see how smug you are with a quill in the eye, brat.” He make’s the perfect grumpy old man.
Actually, those are the old buttons that have been missing for ages now. Still love ’em, though.
No need to chastise him imo, pretty sure GD is already chaste.
aren’t most dwarves?
“It’s true you don’t see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men.”
(shudders)
Just think of all the acts of accidental homosexuality they must get into. At least dwarven transsexuals have it easy.
I’d think the differences are obvious to dwarves though not to other races, texture of beards maybe, so it might be even harder.
(This doesn’t apply to Pratchett dwarves of course, where androgyny is something of a running gag and feature of the race)
*snerk*
Jean-Luc, truly awesome comment.
Once the initial shock of someone putting that particular two and two together, I laughed for 10 minutes.
