PhilCon Approaches!

by Phil on November 7, 2011 at 12:18 pm

Hey ho, Guildies. It’s that time of year again, where the oldest-running Science Fiction con in the country kicks off and rocks house. That kind of con could only be the con that shares my namesake: PhilCon. Come on out to see me and official PhilCon guests of honor Cory Doctorow, Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell, and S.J. Tucker. Word on the street is that PhilCon will also see 100% certified Rad Filker and creator of the latest Guilded Age Theme Song: Blue of Hello, The Future! So come watch her get her filk on with Phil Kahn at PhilCon, and no we will never get tired of that joke. And if that’s not enough, I’ll be there with Jamie the Intern and a stack of books for sale! See you there!

Interview with a Nerdcenary!

by Phil on November 1, 2011 at 11:47 am

Hey ho, Guildies. I was interviewed a little while ago by Luke Herr, writer of Socialfist & Changeling for the newNerdcenaries blog. Click here to check out my Real Interview, in which I discuss the creative process behind Guilded Age, webcomics-themed cocktails, and DC’s New 52 (spoiler: No sir, I don’t like it). I’m the second guy they’ve interviewed so far, right after Chris Sims (also a good interview, worth a read). Thanks, Luke!

WarMage: Battlegrounds

by Phil on October 31, 2011 at 10:59 am

HAWM, guildies. A quick hit for you today, I found a business card for some local game developers who were making a turn-based fantasy combat game called WarMage Battlegrounds, and, well… I figgered that’s be just right up everyone’s alley around here. It’s free, it’s browser-based, and the guys who made it are absolutely swell dudes. I tested the game myself, and it maintains a level of unit depth that rivals Heroes of Might & Magic. Definitely worth a look, and I’d be playing it myself if I weren’t currently buried in scripts!

Click here, and give it a whirl. It’s free!
