Annotated 11-22
This was an odd one-page interlude, but it served to announce a tonal shift, away from the relatively ominous deaths and resurrections of the group, manipulations of HR, and fate of their “heroic” ally. Though our group will shortly be getting a surprise that throws off their stride, this sunny mood will dominate for a while overall.
Mounts were one aspect of WoW and similar RPGs that I wish we’d played with more. You could see the playful nod to them in Best’s origin story, as he was a stable boy for all kinds of exotic creatures (for like five hours before the prophecy spread). So, now that we’d said goodbye to Best forever and ever, it seemed apropos to bring those back for a bit.
The script encouraged John to think of slobbering bulldogs.
“Rhinosaurs”? “Nose-Lizards”?
Those are pretty substantial snouts
Also a Soundarden song.
Not a Soundarden song I like, but the name is in my head thanks to me being old enough to have heard it a lot on the radio back when. So now it’s what immediately pops into my head whenever these beasts get mentioned in the comic.
*Soundgarden*
No idea how I made that same typo twice.
Also the avatar I was randomly assigned just looks hilariously on point for a post mentioning Soundgarden.
“Black Hole Sun”?
No, “Rhinosaur”. It’s the song off the “Down on the Upside” album that IIRC got the most airplay when that album was released.
I love how the fighters are having a great time, while the “casters” are holding on for dear life.
I agree
Indeed. It looks like Gravedust is holding onto Frigg’s boobs for dear life. I am sure neither of them is in a position to notice at the moment, but, realistically, one would expect him to be embarrassed later. Byron, on the other hand, appears to be enjoying the way his passenger is holding onto him.
It’s not like either one of them could really tell through her platemail.
That’s one of the things I like about GA, the female armor is actually reasonably realistic.
Mounts are feature of any fantasy story. To truly make them an MMO like experience, they would have minimum level requirements and be exorbitantly expensive. ;-)
If the script called for a mix of rhinos, dinos and doggos, John certainly delivered. :)
Oh great, now I’m imagining Frigg singing “these greaves aren’t made for hiking” to the tune of “these boot are made for walking” in a hideous singing voice…
