Annotated 18-22
Important edit: Moved “heroes who cannot be killed” into the past tense, because, y’know, if they’re not past tense then that kind of challenges the point Harky’s making.
Phil’s panel 5 description amused me: “Harky quickly turns towards the ritual with a look of horror and rage on his face as he realizes that he fell for a fucking RUSE of all things.”
Also, panel 6: “Syr’Nj crouches, the bough in her hand, her eyes going blank as it bathes her in emerald floodlighting that Hal Jordan would envy.” That’s not much of a clue about how this is about to go, but I think John picked up on it anyway.
Byron seems to get his ass kicked a lot. That’s gotta be hard on a guy after a while. At least this time his ass-kicking served a good purpose.
I wonder if Byron qualifies as a skirmisher? Really good at dealing out the damage, but tends to be soft and squishy. Unfortunately, he just has a bad habit of drawing aggro when he really shouldn’t.
Fortunately, being a punching bag doesn’t seem to phase Byron. He’s more concerned about hurting people than he is about being hurt.
Maybe more like a Barbarian? Not very well armored, but able to take massive punishment?
After all, we wouldn’t like him, when he’s angry.
Byron could have asked „died of old age?“
Yeah… That way, technically, they were never ‘killed’.
Aye, and when it comes to certain monsters, demons, and eldritch horrors that comeback over time by themselves (no cultists required), they can be killed, therefore destroying their physical form, but they will eventually come back from the “spawning pits” or other specified spot, although this takes many years depending on power level (ie Medusa comes back in a small number of decades, Sphinx needs half a century at the very least). So even if they don’t ever die, if they can be killed.
It’s a tricky subject quite a few people have a hard time grasping, even with things that have clear outlines, as invulnerability doesn’t (usually) prevent old age, mind control, or sickness, and eternal life/youth doesn’t prevent from being murdered.
