Annotated 3-14
I dunno, alt text. Frigg’s little “ooooh!” gesture in panel 1 is maybe not what all of us would do, but many of us would regret not doing it once the opportunity had passed.
I say Phil took over the writing a page ago, but we were still going over each other’s work and adding a lot at this point… “sinner’s blessing” is mine, I’m pretty sure, and at least half of the “dope/dope” transition that begins in this page and ends in the next.
Hookeye and Glee aren’t exactly Hook and Smee: they’ve got to be a bit less theatrical than their inspirations were in order to contrast with Von Carnaj’s goofier, stagier personality. And more obviously, Captain Hook has no issue with kidnapping children.
Never noticed Frigg’s expression before, and I’d absolutely find myself doing the same thing.
Frigg looks more stoked than spooked.
In fairness, I don’t think Cpt Hook kidnapped children from homes (not counting the modern Robin Williams/Dustin Hoffman rendition). Generally, it was essentially orphaned kids. And even though Wendy and her brothers did have a home, they did butt there noses into Cpt Hook’s business. All entirely different from Carnaj is about.
Wouldn’t they be more like Soul Arrows…?
The *actual* Disney characters these two get to represent are the cartoon bullets from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, i.e. anthropomorphic bullets that look for their target & are able to change course.
I always wondered, what happened to those bullets after they were fired? Do they eventually come back to Eddie, or do they just start new lived in Toontown?
Or do they just die? Perhaps their natural lifespan is just a minute or so.
Given that they’re a) Toons & b) bullets, they c) won’t die, since real bullets may get dented or flattened, but will continue to exist, & d) won’t be able to move very far after they hit a target, since they need to get fired to get anywhere, although e) they may wiggle their way onwards. If Eddie wants them back, he’ll have to retrieve them.
[Nightmare] – I was never any good with a bow. Stop that.
Knowing what we do now it seems odd that Frigg is so excited to see ghosts but is absolutely freaked out by skeletons.
You don’t have a ghost inside you just waiting to get out.
Are you sure?
I can 100% confirm I have no soul, so yes.
The fear of skeletons was from a guest strip. Plus she’s not bothered at all when e-Merl later uses illusion magic to portray a lich.
Frigg has always been hated by skeletons. Even as a child.
Wizfoot…. so agreed love it!!
Is the line about taking pirates at their word an intentional Princess Bride reference? Or just something that crept in?
