Annotated 30-14
What happens to Penk in panels 2-4 might be the most important moment in his development, and certainly is the easiest to overlook. He laughs over his defeated enemy, as a troll champion is supposed to do, as Harky certainly would (“BAHAHAHAHA! When will you start TRYING?”).
And then Magda speaks from her compassionate heart, as she always does. And Penk’s feeling of triumph turns to ashes in his mouth. He doesn’t want to be merciless either. But if no one had stopped him from acting merciless here, it might’ve become a habit, and then a trait.
In light of that, it’s maybe not surprising that Penk will develop a bit of a crush on Magda before long.
New Shakespeare’s Trump scenes here!
Rachel, I’m sure a healthy Frigg would certainly applaud your answer in the most crude manner possible, but… I wonder if a seriously injured Frigg would really object to an strategic retreat to have magic casters heal her carbonized foot, though
Agreed. But if her friends wanted to do/continue ass kicking instead I think Frigg would be happy/proud just enough (even if she doesn’t show it), that she’d want them to fight/continue doing so to stick it to their foes if that’s what her friends were they were gonna do in the first place.
ie, I think I she’d support them ether way, even if her pride might take a hit or her foot becomes a permanent loss to some/significant degree.
Magda wasn’t offering “we’ll let you leave” anyway. She was offering “we’ll kill you both quickly.”
