If Xan were truly as paranoid as he puts on, his screen would lock within a minute of inactivity, which would have made it a lot harder for JJ to access that data.
It’s surprising how fast violent confrontations are when one party is determined and acts to achieve a well-defined objective. The last knife fight I saw (and I hope never to see another) lasted all of five seconds.
If he was as paranoid as he put on, he’d have a better door.
All JJ needed to do was to get Xan away from the computer before he could lock it. After that it just needs a button pressed or the mouse wiggled every so often, and I’m sure JJ had no issue subduing Xan in less than 30 seconds.
