Annotated 36-28
I forgot how much Rabbit got to do in this chapter. With all the panel-time he gets and that ship factor, one might think we were gearing up to promote him to the majors.
Bandit knows this situation needs a leader. Scipio needs her. The whole crew needs her. And fuck it all, Byron needs her too. There’s no damn time to huddle in a corner and panic. She calls on a little of her old thief experience to come up with a simple strategy, epoxies her psyche together as best she can, and gets to work.
I should say, great work from Flo on all of Byron’s “yell effects.”
Untill the annotations some pages back I thought that the berserker spirits actually fully revived the host, although they would usually be killed again later, which would have meant that Byron really was still there, just not in control.
I’m glad to know that at least he was spared this experience, although it doesn’t make it any less terrifying for his friends and allies.
And here’s where I can’t blame Bandit for anything she does. Even knowing how it all ends, in this moment, this was all she could do.
