Annotated 46-9
A+ political analysis from Frigg today, no notes.
I appreciate that Penk is aware of the possibility of even some rando troll or other Rebel picking a fight with the Peacemakers in his absence and has a very practical plan to prevent that from happening. Proving yourself a worthy leader isn’t always about the big trials, by combat or otherwise. It’s the hundreds of small decisions that really prove=s a leader’s mettle true.
This little flex on Gravedust’s part might be necessary to build up his arc in this chapter, where (spoiler) he goes from powerless outcast to commander-in-chief.
FB: Today in GUILDED AGE, Gravedust seems to be getting his just desert.
Gravy cannot go face the Savasi as one of the Champions, he goes at the last Mystic and needs no escort.
Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!
Sunday Savasi Smackdown!
I wonder what that “Sonata in G” was referring to. Just went and listened to the Sonatas in G by both Beethoven and Mozart, and while they’re certainly not music to riot to, I also wouldn’t call them “peace-makers”. Nice, friendly, somewhat playful, but not particularly calming or to help me rest.
… but I kind of suspect that the reason Best is so specific here is that he’s hinting at some particular piece. Of course, I don’t know too much about music theory … so I just looked up the keys to all songs by queen, and the two best-known ones in G major are “Princes of the Universe” (man did I watch Highlander a lot…) and “Too much lover will kill you”. Number three is “A beautiful day (reprise)” — and that, finally, is something I think our heroes might want to relax to. At the same time, I’m not sure that this is what Best is trying to hint at, and I wonder how many people who know actual stuff about music would agree with his statement here.
Of course, Best here understatedly points out that he and Bandit have never been, and will never be, in the same location.
Yes they have. Chapter 2, pages 7 and 8. Bandit used Best as a distraction while stealing a bunch of purses. And chapter 12 page 3 makes it clear that Bandit knows who Best is, even if he doesn’t know her at all.
